Taking flowers to Cassie's grave, Nikki's surprised to find Victor - who stares solemnly, then silently takes her hand to stand beside him.
Inside the church, Nick sits in a pew - I miss you so much Cassie. Sharon arrives to place a hand on his shoulder - knowing he left the teddy bear on Cassie's grave (which leads to some reminiscing of how good Nick was to her). He really wishes Cassie knew the daughter she predicted they'd have. Oh Nick, Sharon leans in for comfort.
At CL's, Noah talks to Kevin about Cassie. This anniversary is one of the reasons why he's in GC. This is the date everything changed. Sorry dude - Kevin's sure it's a tough day for a lot of people...
... like Daniel - who assures a concerned Phyllis that he's fine. You don't have to go through this day alone, Phyllis then snaps at Daisy (who, as Daniel's wife, should know what's going on). Somebody died - a long time ago today - and it was my fault. Enough information for you!? Daniel snarls.
At home, Mrs Martinez apologizes for stepping on Jack's foot - which he felt!! Hurry - get my cell phone! he barks - brimming with optimism.
Still in her robe, Daisy's questions are interrupted by Lucy crying. You're a Mom - come do your job, Phyllis prompts. Take her back to your place for a while, Daisy suggests (a great idea, Daniel agrees).
Nick and Sharon continue to mourn their little girl - can't believe how many years have gone by - Cassie'd be all grown up - leading a life of her own - perhaps be in love. Oh the things they'll never get to see - graduation - wedding - kids. If Cassie hadn't gone out that night, a lot of things would be different, Sharon's eyes bore into Nick's.
Placing her flowers at the foot of the grave, Nikki's reminded that yellow was Cassie's favourite colour. Both still often think of the girl taken much too soon. Oh how short life is. And with a few touching words to Cassie, Victor leaves Nikki to grieve privately.
Getting to Jack's as soon as he could, Sarge is told 'it happened again'. He quickly manipulates the foot Mrs Martinez stepped on - feel that? Yes! - Jack feels pressure - and is thrilled when Sarge thinks it time to order some tests. Bring em on!!
Ending his call, Sarge reports that Dr Isaac's is waiting for them at Memorial. Knowing he shouldn't get his hopes up, Jack can't help but believe this is a tri-factor of miracles; the first two being getting his company back - and marrying Nikki (who then arrives). Told it's the anniversary of Cassie's death, Jack's so so sorry (and withholds his news to comfort her).
Sitting at Cassie's grave, Noah thinks it cool that people still bring her stuff (though he didn't). He really needs advice from his guardian angel.
Praised for doing a 'nice thing' (letting Phyllis take Lucy), Daisy declares them 'family' - it's time to let go of the past (not easy for Daniel). Again asking about the person who died, Daisy's told to get dressed (but instead hides to listen in on Daniel's call). Yeah - today's rough - he'd LOVE to get outta here. See you there. Grabbing his keys and wallet, Daniel exits without a word to Daisy.
At the penthouse, Phyllis updates Nick that Lucy's there at Daisy's suggestion. Yeah - Nick's OK. Yeah - he saw Sharon. Good - Phyllis is cool with them remembering their daughter together.
Sharon returns home - to find that Victor's taken the liberty of setting up a nice lunch. Removing the silver domes, he reveals Cassie's favourite meal; chicken, macaroni and beans (to which Sharon forces a smile).
Cassie sounds like a terrific young lady - Sarge is sorry for Nikki's loss. Still not revealing his news, Jack decides to reschedule his 'routine' tests to spend the day with Nikki. Don't wait too long, Sarge says as he exits. Sorry he didn't go to the cemetery with Nikki, Jack's here for her now - as long as she needs him ~hug~
At Jimmy's, Daniel's about to leave without taking a sip of his beer (when Kevin arrives to ask how he is). Daniel feels like he got off too easy - he shoulda been locked up. It was an accident - Kevin reminds that it was Cassie's bad decision (to take Daniel's keys and drive). Life goes on. Not for Cassie it doesn't, Daniel wallows in guilt.
Lucy napping upstairs, Nick holds Phyllis (who never thought the drama with Cassie and Daniel would bring them to this - having their own little girl; one on the way). Neither are proud of the way they handled it back then - but are exactly where they're supposed to be ~kiss~
Sharon's not upset - she's impressed that Victor remembered everything (even ketchup and chocolate chip cookies). And when she talks of her grief, Victor can't imagine anything worse than losing a child. Sharon is now grateful for her memories - to have had Cassie in her life. She continues to bring happiness, Victor takes Sharon's hand to add.
Is Daisy at Jimmy's to make sure Kevin wasn't lying (that Daniel wasn't with her)? We're married - with a daughter (who's effected by what effects Daniel). Daisy 'deserves' to know the story (while Kevin figures he'd tell her if he wanted to). I'm your sister - be straight with me! Who died and why does Daniel blame himself? With a sigh, Kevin takes Daisy to a booth - have a seat.
Now at Cassie's adorned grave, Daniel can see she's had a busy day. He can't believe it's been 7 years - so much has changed since then.
Ending Vikki's call, Nick and Phyllis are impressed that she's checking up on him. Despite the Newman's faults, they're there for one another when it counts. But oh how happy Nick is to be here with Phyllis ~kiss~
Back at Sharon's, she talks of the flowers and angel figurine Doris sent. Victor saw it (and Nikki) at Cassie's grave. You were both so good to Cassie, Sharon reflects. And yes - there IS something else Victor can do for her - have the chef make more lunch.
Wow - poor Daniel - Daisy (now updated) wishes he'd have told her (so she could comfort him). Nice thought, Kevin quips. What? He doesn't think she can be compassionate? Daisy knows what it's like to screw up (like Daniel did). And when Kevin admits he's 'been there' too, Daisy wonders why THEY'RE forgiven (but not her). Maybe if someone loved her - gave her a chance - she wouldn't be seen as a monster. Forgiveness is something you earn, Kevin points out.
Everything's arranged, Victor hangs up. You sure about this? Yes - phone in hand, Sharon's sure. And to a musical montage, cut to Phyllis handing Nick his phone. Noah's at CL's (moping over a photo of Cassie) when his call comes in (from Nick). With Jack, Nikki answers Victor's call. Daniel's at the cemetery when Phyllis calls him. Soon, all are gathered at Sharon's - smiling over photo albums and Cassie's favourite meal. At Victor's side, Sharon raises her glass - for all that tears us apart, some things will always hold us together. To Cassie, Nick toasts.
Next: Paul has news for Chris - he claims to have proof - that Ricky's responsible for Rachel's death ... I wish it were for different reasons, but I'm glad you're here, Phyllis tells Danny (at RS) ... Don't answer em - plead the 5th, Billy advises (at Jimmy's). If I do that they'll deport me, Cane replies.
My Thoughts: Nikki has no peripheral vision? She didn't spot Victor at Cassie's grave until she's stepping on it? ... Maybe Kevin woulda remembered the anniversary of Cassie's death - if 'Cassie's Corner' wasn't a temporary tribute (replaced by a gaudy poster) .. Yellow was her favourite colour you know, Victor makes it sound like he's the only one who knows Cassie trivia. Why wasn't Vikki included in today's show? ... Sarge is funny - telling a guy in a wheelchair to take it 'one step at a time' ... OK - so I have nothing else. I sniffled through the first half - and blubbered through the last - right around the time Victor said that there's nothing worse than a parent losing a child. My condolensces to anyone who's suffered that unimaginable loss. Never again will I whine about those grieving for Cassie.
