Nikki spreading a blanket on the grass, Jack can't just sit at the park doing nothing (about his niece). The voice of reason, Nikki makes him put his phone away - they'll call (if there's a ransom call etc.)
Returning to the motel room, Carmine got everything on Abby's list (except expensive lotion). And if he's gotta worry about an orange jumpsuit - she's gonna wear 'square dance caller' denim overalls. We need money to eat - not like they can use a credit card. 'Hillbilly Chic' - Abby decides she may start a trend.
At the station, Ashley (and Tucker) are surprised to find Malloy's been summoned by Victor (who then arrives with an overly solicitous Sharon). Good, now Malloy gets to tell 'everyone' the news at once.
On her own, Lauren asks the Fisher's to go to the park with her. They pass - Daniel's being arrested. At first, Kevin didn't believe it either, he explains the email Daisy didn't get to send. Lauren's sure Mike will get to the bottom of it - let's hope no one else gets hurt.
The Newman's return to the penthouse. Expecting Daniel and Avery any minute, Nick heads up to check on Lucy/send the sitter home.
In the interrogation room, Mike can't ignore the evidence. No, Daniel's not being charged - but he should listen to his great lawyer, Avery. Heather brings an officer in to begin the arrest process.
Stupid girl - are you ready to die? No one will find Daisy's wallet, phone - or EDEN - no one will see what you saw. Ricky! Paul pounds on the door. Inside, he's looking for Eden.
Ricky scoffs - why is Paul coming to him because Daisy's missing? - then Eden's missing for 5 minutes? Who's next? Hoffa? Paul was told Eden might be here - no need to get defensive. Eden WAS here - a while ago - she went to the ladies room and never came back - ask the bartender. Paul absorbs Ricky's anger - it doesn't have to be this way - please. He's not going anywhere with Ricky like this.
Sending the sitter home, Nick's soon sent to bring her back (when Avery calls to say Daniel's been arrested - due to the email).
Mike gives the 'lead' to Heather (to avoid any hint of conflict of interest). And yes, we're doing this 'by the book'.
Now seated on the blanket in the grass, Nikki gives Jack a little birthday gift - they'll celebrate when Abby's home.
'Old boy' Malloy reports to Victor and the rest; no activity on Carmine or Abby's credit cards. The Basco's are tied to organized crime - his father's being watched (his phone's tapped - the borders are being watched blah blah blah. Time to offer a reward (which Victor has no problem with).
A six pack of leopard skin underpants? in her overalls, Abby admits she made a mistake (because the gala was a flop). Carmine screwed up too - that was his fault.
Back at Ricky's, Paul insists they work it out - help me understand who you are. Ricky's childhood? Lonely as hell - he visited his Mom in a mental hospital (until she was doped for being violent) - a father who didn't know he was alive - his grandparents tried - but the only person who looked out for Ricky, was Ricky. Both near tears, a sorry Paul really wants to get to know him - let's start over. OK, Ricky will listen - tomorrow. On his way out, Paul pockets his room key, spots Eden's backpack - and hugging his son, leaves Ricky to sigh with relief.
In the bathroom, Ricky gets back to Eden. Now where were we? Ignoring Kevin's call, he hovers over Eden with a large knife.
Why isn't Eden taking Kevin's calls? (after texting him to meet her)? Off to the station, Lauren leaves the Fisher's to continue calling Eden.
Daniel? He's being booked. Phyllis (at the station with Nick) doesn't wanna hear that Mike's just doing his job (but isn't any happier to hear Heather's taking over). Avery brings Daniel in - demanding he be released.
Back at the station, Malloy's thanked. Appreciating Ashley's apology, Victor leads Sharon away.
Pissed when Carmine explains his sabotage, Abby snarls about poor underprivileged kids who won't get their art classes etc. Carmine IS sorry - for a lot of reasons. Abby will deny this - but she thinks it cool he wanted to do this for Angelina (too bad she said: Carmine who? to a reporter). Oh what an idiot he's been. Abby cheers him up - what goes around what comes around.
Coming down the stairs, Paul calls Kevin - Eden left Ricky's. Kevin's worried - where is she? Paul will check out the park again. But wait - he flashes back to Eden's backpack. OMG! Upstairs he runs.
Seated at the club with her man, Sharon's glad Ashley apologized - not like she's the only one who's distraught. It's Victor Sharon's worried about. Victor just needs to see the beautiful Sharon - and yes, some fireworks at the park.
With Tucker, Ashley joins Nikki and Jack - sorry she forgot it's his birthday. Jack's happy to hear the FBI's been called in - and that Carmine doesn't sound dangerous.
Back at the motel, Carmine badgers Abby to call home. And when he goes to shower, she reads her Mother's plea online - and eyes her phone with guilt.
At the station, a tense Mike gets a visit (and a hug) from Lauren.
Avery and Heather square off - there's no proof - no body - the evidence circumstantial. The State can hold Daniel for 48 hours - Heather just wants the truth. Ask your questions! Daniel demands.
Letting himself into Ricky's suite, Paul opens the bathroom door - to find Ricky with a knife to a still unconscious Eden's throat. Any closer and she's dead! Paul then pulls a gun - drop the knife!
It's late - Heather will start in the morning - deal with it. Malloy assures Phyllis that Daniel will be safe overnight. And Nick will take care of her and Lucy. It'll be fine, Phyllis assures Daniel.
Still at CL's, the Fisher's continue to worry about Eden - off to the park they go.
Let me help you, Paul pleads with Ricky - he DOES care. You were NEVER a father to me! Paul should have been there. Rachel thought she could leave ME, Ricky confesses to murdering her and Greg Hunt - and crazy Daisy too. Whaddaya say Dad? You proud of your boy? Drop the knife NOW, Paul orders. Ricky has nothing to live for - it's all Dad's fault. I'm the product of your neglect. You gonna take out your own kid!? Go ahead! Shoot! Drop the knife NOW! Do it!!! Drop it!!! back and forth it goes.
And here's the tense musical montage; Victor and Sharon head off to fireworks - Jack, Nikki and the soon to be ex McCall's look up at the display - Tucker lights the candle in the cake Nikki brought. Ashley gets a call from an unknown caller. Hi Mom - the fireworks go off .....
Daniel's taken to a cell for the night - the Baldwin's kiss. And as Avery and the Newman's file past them, Phyllis stops to glare at them.
The Fisher's are showing Eden's photo around to those trying to watch fireworks ... Ricky and Paul shout at one another - and when Ricky raises the knife, Paul fires - sending Ricky crashing backwards through the window!
Next: Mike's lucky to have an attorney like you on his team, Malloy tells Heather ... Abby looks dumbfounded when Carmine comes out in nothing but a towel ... Paul looks out the broken window - horrified at what he sees on the ground.
My Thoughts: Malloy gets to tell 'everyone' at once? Ashley and Victor are her only family there (Sharon and Tucker don't give a rats ass). Ashley, how ARE you? Sharon can't even fake concern convincingly (like she's talking to a child or deaf person - maybe a deaf child) Even more bizarre is the look on her face when Ashley was apologizing to Victor ... Heather asks 'we do this by the book?' like there's another alternative? Like the DA's office doesn't try all cases 'by the book'? ... Why does Victor call anyone 'old boy'? ... If Abby's so worried about underprivileged kids, why doesn't SHE donate whatever was sold in tickets ... 'Let's hope no one else gets hurt' - it's not Paul's fault (Lauren's ominous words guaranteed someone would get hurt).... NOW Paul wants to know how Ricky's childhood was? There's no reason he couldn't have been more of a father to his son. He couldn't even deny Ricky's accusations. That said, being raised by grandparents isn't the end of the world - not kid in that situation turns out to be a murdering psycho (he inherited the murdering psycho gene from his mother).... And I wouldn't go as far as to say no one will EVER find Daisy's wallet or cell phone. They were wrapped (no TUCKED) into a newspaper and tossed in a housekeepers cart - not into a compactor.
