At the penthouse, Phyllis reports that's Lucy's sleeping - having no idea her Dad was almost charged with killing her crazy Mom. She's stunned when Nick reads the front page of the paper - Ricky's dead - Paul shot him.
At the club's bar, a glum Heather updates Avery. It must have been self defense - or to protect someone, she's sure. The evidence will show that, Avery assures. Mike can't defend Paul - but he has HER. Heading up to the crime scene, Heather has no idea where Paul is.
In Ricky's suite, Heather assures Mike and Malloy that she'll find her father. The case being done by the book, Heather's removed from it - oh and Paul's a fugitive.
Downstairs, Mike grudgingly admits it's good Malloy's back (as he has no conflict of interest working Paul's case). Mike makes it clear that he's the boss. Paul's a good, ethical man - but Malloy finds something wrong with his story; the gun (which he's sent off to find) - as Lauren enters in time to listen - and quietly tell Mike that the gun was hers.
Still in a hospital bed, Eden gets a visit from Daniel - who scolds her for going to Ricky's room. Sorry baby, he takes her hand. Eden feels guilty that she can't remember (and might be the only person who can prove Paul HAD to shoot Ricky).
Back at the station, Heather barks orders to her officers - then is stunned when Paul arrives to turn himself in.
In an interrogation room, Heather blasts Paul for leaving the crime scene. He explains that he went to visit Isabella (who's still 'lost') - and understands that Heather can't defend him. Avery will. Paul knows the evidence looks bad - but is sure Eden will be able to shed light on what Ricky was gonna do. She would - but she can't remember (which worries Paul).
Released by the doctor, Eden panics - what about her memory? She needs to help a friend. In time, the doctor says on exit. Heather calls to summon her to the scene of the crime - for an experiment. No, Daniel can't come.
When Avery arrives to see her client, Malloy's annoyed that Heather didn't tell him. He's not there to bust the 'hometown hero' for murder. He's doing his job - just like SHE is.
Spittin' mad, Mike doesn't know where to start; another gun Lauren didn't tell him about - but gave to Paul!? Violating her probation!? Has she any idea of the position she's put him in? What's Mike to do? Turn her in? Yes - if not, Lauren will.
In the interrogation room, Avery's had no time to prep - but will intervene if she doesn't like the way the questioning's going. Malloy arrives - to ask about the unregistered gun Paul just so happened to have with him. Paul stands firm - he doesn't remember where he got it from (he's had many guns throughout his career).
Mike's pissed - so, Lauren wants to march into the station to say she bought a gun while on probation!? Knowing Paul won't blab, Lauren must. Gun charges are the least of Paul's problems, Mike will figure out a way to handle this. Lauren doesn't want Paul ruined to save her.
Ending a call, Phyllis sends a RS staffer off to the station. Paul must be in hell, she sympathizes. When Daniel drops by, Nick leaves them to chat. Daniel thinks if Daisy were alive she'd have exposed the hit and run by now. Assuming Ricky killed her, Daniel concludes that Phyllis' secret is safe.
Arriving with Heather, Eden gets a hug from Mike. Paul was looking out for her - she must do what she can to help him. Let into Ricky's suite, Eden cautiously looks around (as Heather and Mike stare at her). And as they proceed into the bathroom, Eden stops at the door.
Nick and Daniel leave Lauren and Phyllis to chat in private. Lauren has something to tell Phyllis - about the gun that shot Ricky.
Paul explains that he was giving Ricky 'another shot'. Ricky was angry - and after Paul left, he got a call from Kevin - realized he's seen Eden's backpack. So, he used Ricky's key to get back in. Ricky had the knife above Eden - was gonna kill her. He wouldn't 'drop it'. Near tears, Paul claims the impact of the shot pushed him out the window. Avery chimes in - Eden would be dead - Paul prevented a murder. There MUST be a knife! It was 10 inches long! Paul bellows. No knife found, Malloy lists why it appears to be premeditated murder.
Not comfortable in the bathroom, Eden still can't remember what happened. Back in the living room, Mike hands her a backpack - to reenact how she came in - see if that triggers anything. Getting nowhere, next step is to reenact the shooting.
At CL's, Daniel's unsettled. Daisy worked here a coupla days ago - now she's gone. What the hell's going on around here? He tells Nick that Eden's OK - but wants to help Paul. Nick's sure Paul shot Ricky to defend Eden - what else could it be? Rage is a funny thing - makes you do stuff you regret, Daniel opines - it creeps in and makes you do stuff you can't undo - there's no going back.
Lauren bought another gun - to protect her family. She gave it to Paul - and now look. Phyllis won't let Lauren feel guilty. Ricky would have killed Eden and Paul. Lauren's gun SAVED two people's lives.
Eden laid out on the bathroom floor, Heather tries to coax a memory out of her. Getting up, Eden's just scared - she remembers nothing. None of this woulda happened if she'd listened to Paul (and left it alone).
Recognize that? Malloy slides over Paul's file on Ricky - which includes no evidence of criminal activity. With no knife, there's no proof Ricky was homicidal. Paul has proof. Where? In his head. Ricky confessed that he killed before.
Paul names Ricky's victims - Rachel, Greg, Daisy - and Eden woulda been next. Yes, Ricky told Paul this. Too bad Eden doesn't remember. Do your job and find the knife! Paul snaps. After Malloy leaves, Avery asks why Paul didn't mention Ricky's confession earlier. Paul's all emotional - My son's a murderer - suspicion's one thing - but to have it confirmed.... He feels responsible for everyone Ricky killed.
Mike's back at the station - updating Malloy that Eden wasn't able to remember anything. Malloy's impression? Paul's cracking up - wracked with guilt. His file is beyond obsessive - but doesn't prove Ricky killed anyone. He's going crazy with suspicion - and he shoots Ricky in a moment of panic (then creates the knife and confession to mitigate his own guilt). They can't release Paul - but he deserves a break (so Malloy's made a call).
Malloy rejoins Paul (who already guesses they can't let him go). No - but he does have a visitor. He stands to share a tight hug with Nina.
Bringing Eden back to CL's, Heather tells Daniel she's tougher than she looks. Daniel clearly doesn't approve of taking Eden back to the scene - and won't let her feel guilty for losing her memory either - it happens. Avery arrives with news - Ricky confessed to 'getting rid' of Daisy (which makes Eden even more frustrated - and determined to remember what Ricky said).
Nick returns to find Phyllis with the 'beautiful' Lucy in her lap. The crazy Ricky and Daisy had crazy mother's too; no soul. No remorse, regret or decency. Phyllis doesn't feel good saying it, but she's glad they're gone. Nick believes that Lucy's life will be better without Daisy in it. Phyllis feels safer than she has in months. This nightmare is finally over, she cuddles Lucy.
Still at the station, Mike asks Lauren to wait before confessing to her 'purchase' - see how things unfold. He'll do his best to protect all involved. In tears, Lauren asks Mike to forgive her (for putting him in this position). She then heaps praise on a humble Malloy - it was kind of him to summon Nina.
In the interrogation room, Nina's delivering the mother of all pep talks. Paul's true, good and right - honourable. Tears flowing freely, Paul begs her to stop it! I killed my son! I killed my OWN son!! There's no excuse for that, he sobs.
Next: As Tucker hovers at a safe distance, Ashley confronts an uncomfortable Harmony; You slept with my husband - there's no coming back from that .... Genevieve tries to convince the Ashby's - I'm the last person on earth who'd use your sister's memory to torment you. That's disgusting to me .... Abby confesses - I called my Mom yesterday - told her everything. You what? Carmine's stunned.
My Thoughts: Since Ricky confessed to killing Rachel and Greg, will the cops bother to reopen and investigate those cases? Rachel's family should know she didn't comit suicide - and Greg's should know he didn't crash due to drinking .... Ricky's room's pretty neat - considering all that went on there. Haven't the cops searched it? They should come across Ricky's laptop (with his murder videos) - and Dr Tim's file on Phyllis - and the unauthorized tell-all he's been working on (why isn't Phyllis worried about what Ricky may have already compiled on her?) ... Daisy may have been 'gotten rid of' - but just Phyllis thinking she's in the clear hints she's not - Daisy will be back one day, likely after surgery that's given her someone elses face. Carter's don't die that easily .... When did Paul become GC's 'hometown hero'? .... RS, a fashion magazine, has a crime department? Why? And what's taking Billy so long? How on earth did Nina get from LA to GC so fast? The flight alone is 3.6 hours (never mind checking in, baggage etc) Paul's been stuck in that room all this time? ... Nice choice of words - Paul deciding to give Ricky another 'shot' .... Eden's tougher than she looks? What's that supposed to mean Heather? Eden was once a very tough character (not this fragile flower, with big ears, she is now). She knows 'something' happened. Yeah? Ya think? Maybe she should get hypnotized ... Daniel's right - it (losing your memory) DOES happen - a LOT in GC (where almost everyone has suffered temporary amnesia) ... Hypocritical line of the day goes to Phyllis. blathering on about Ricky and Daisy having no remorse, regret, decency. Where's HER remorse over running Chris and Paul over??
