Back on the patio Mattie and Reed both need to go talk to their Mom’s. In case we don’t see each other for a while, Mattie gives Reed a kiss.

Wringing her hands as if in pain, Vikki butts heads with Mike over taking action against Cane. There’s nothing I can do about it? Not really and you know what it’s like to have a controlling Father. Did you obey Victor or did you fight even harder for what you wanted??

Nick shares his frustration with Nikki about the delay in getting the liquor license; he’s found a contact who’ll put in a good word. Noah’s really disappointed. Nick feels good about cutting the strings with Victor – but hates letting Noah down. He’ll do everything he can to proceed with this project – and be for his son what Victor never was to him.

If Noah accepts Victor’s help, his Dad will know about it. Will Victor use legitimate methods? And what will it cost me? Noah wonders.

Putting who her Father is, Mike’s heard that Mattie’s a good, studious girl. Vikki thinks her son has many other choices (he plays guitar for heaven’s sake) Mike’s paid for advice so will tell Vikki a truth she doesn’t want to hear – let this go. But what if Cane doesn’t?

Lily bringing up Neil opposing their relationship results in a flashback of Cane asking Lily to work out with him (not a date) Mattie then comes home to apologize for lying – but it’s not Reed’s fault. We’re paying for stuff that’s not our fault. Punish me but then I want to see Reed. You’re grounded for 2 weeks and no cell phone. Mattie hands over her phone – after that I want to see Reed. Cane says no and that’s final.

Victor tells Noah to use the Newman name – there’s no strings attached. If you want my help, say the word. I appreciate that, Noah stands to leave. Victor just wants his grandson to succeed.

Mattie sings Reed’s praises; he’s a funny, talented musician. You’re just mad that his Mom fired you, Mattie also reminds that her Dad’s not blamed for stuff Grandpa Collin did. Reed’s not innocent, Lily sides with Cane – he cut class too and invited you to his house. Mattie lashes out at her Dad – none of this would have happened if you didn’t sleep with a stranger! Let her go, Lily tells Cane when Mattie storms off to her room. After Cane leaves, Lily hugs Mattie and explains that they’re just concerned about her. She too thought she ‘wouldn’t do anything crazy’ – until I did it.

Walking in without knocking, Nikki tells Victor that she’s only there because Faith’s having her riding lesson. No, Victor shouldn’t go see her. Victor won’t be told he can’t see his granddaughter and doesn’t give a damn what Nick thinks. Her parents make the decisions not us, Nikki reminds. Tell Faith I’ll see her soon – show yourself out, Victor exits.

Getting stonewalled on the phone (unable to arrange a sit down) Nick ends his call to deadpan/sarcasm – well, that went great. Noah may have another way; Grandpa’s gonna help.

At home for a lecture on cutting class, Reed’s surprised to only be grounded for a week (because Cane overstepped) Vikki’s then told how rough poor Mattie has it with Cane for a Dad. He’ll make it impossible for you to see Mattie ever again, Vikki seems kinda sorry.
