As Cane unpacks takeout, Lily apologizes, asks him to find alternate representation for her models and to work with Neil on a press release. Cane knows this is Lily’s coping mechanism but he won’t give up hope.
Waiting in Billy’s office, Phyllis wonders what happened to change Summer so much. I was gone for a year, got perspective on who I am, Summer was a hot mess when she left GC. Now she’s taken control of her life and doesn’t care what people think. Phyllis can relate – but she does care what people think about her. I love you. You’ve given me so much joy. In tears, Phyllis has tried to give Summer a life better than hers. I’d fight to the death for you. Summer’s proud of her fierce Mom but can never live up to her. Phyllis is sorry she hasn’t always let Summer know how proud she is of her. We’re a team. Let’s reset and do this right.
Pouring herself a drink, Summer would like to reset their relationship – but won’t e manipulated into covering her Mom’s lies. Gloria comes in to say that Billy won’t be back anytime soon (and note Summer’s attitude and that she’s penciled in a cocktail hour for herself) After Gloria leaves, Summer agrees to give her parents (and their soulmates) her blessing – if they survive this. Phyllis exits and bribes Gloria with a spa day if she keeps Summer in the office and lets HER know when Billy’s free. Where is Phyllis going? For back up.
Mike told me to put my affairs in order, Lily has to plan for the worst – she needs Cane to look out for the twins; don’t let them stress too much. Record off of Sam’s milestones and visit me often. Hugging his weepy wife, Cane again speaks of ‘hope’. On cue, Devon arrives.
Mariah assures Nick that she can pull off a bridal shower – then gives up her chair to Phyllis who needs a word with Nick) Summer knows, she updates – our secret won’t stay a secret much longer.
Lily meekly tells Devon that she only came to work because she didn’t think he’d be there. As Devon takes a call, Cane reluctantly leaves Lily to once again try to speak to Devon.
