With one more hint that Lily should work with her brother, Abby gives Nate a hug on her way out. After a brief chat, Audra arrives to politely greet Lily. Given the cold shoulder once again, she’s left to wonder if Nate’s family will despise her forever.
Yes, it would bother Victor if Claire and Kyle were ‘serious’ – the Abbotts are not a stable family. Jack and Diane’s reconciliation will be short-lived, he’s sure. They’ve never been closer – there’s a lot of love in that family, Claire defends. If you scratch the surface, there’s a lot of rot in that family, Victor claims – there’s no coming back, they don’t even know it.
Jack grew up in the shadow of the great John Abbott – how could he ever measure up? He can also relate to Kyle being abandoned by his mother. Your father would be proud of you, Kyle brings Jack to tears. At the risk of damaging their headway, he must ask – do you completely trust Mom?
Of course Jack trusts Diane – despite their harsh words, he didn’t question her, not even for a moment. Do YOU still have doubts? No, not at all, Kyle just needed to hear it from his Dad.
Claire can only go by what she’s seen firsthand. What they (the Abbotts) allow you to see, Victor’s known them for decades. The time will come when you have to choose your allegiance – to the Abbotts or to your own family.
At home, Devon wonders why Lily didn’t reach out to him – he really wants her to come work at Winters. Abby cautions him not to pressure her. We make a good team, their kiss is interrupted by a knock at the door. Shocker – it’s Lily.
You care what other people think, Nate will talk to his cousins. It only matters to Audra because she cares about Nate – so, she will make them like, no adore her.
Abby leaves Devon and Lily to chat. Yes, she’s there for a reason.
Kyle tells Jack that Claire’s amazing – she’s not jaded or cynical. Yes, they’re getting closer and yes he’s OK with her working with Nikki – do you not approve?
Claire can’t imagine having to choose between Kyle and her family and won’t be forced into making a choice – she’s the one who has to live with it. Respecting that, Victor hugs Claire and leaves her to relay his concerns to Nikki and Vikki. Nonsense, Nikki shrugs it off but Vikki looks troubled.
Jack thinks Claire a lovely person but is concerned because of Victor. No, he doesn’t think she’d let Victor use her as a spy (after what her Aunt put her through) Victor (who just put on that show) will never give up – he had his daughter arrested at her wedding to Billy, Jack reminds. Sure, Kyle may be able to handle it but can Claire? Jack worries because Victor won’t back off for her sake. She doesn’t know what we do. Nothing will happen to Claire, Kyle vows – she means too much to him – even more than she knows.
Vikki finds it strange that her Dad asked to speak to Claire alone – does he plan to interfere? Claire can hold her own, Nikki’s sure. Both stand to admire Claire when she comes down in a new outfit.
Lily didn’t think about Devon’s offer much while she was busy with the twins – it was Abby who made her think about it. No, she doesn’t need more time, she wants to come work with Devon – to make Winters a true family company. Thrilled, Devon pulls his sister in for a hug.
