When Chance returns, Martin is ready to leave ‘if you’re not going to arrest me, let’s end this’. Informed that there’s two women here who insist on speaking to him, Martin assumes it’s Traci and Ashley. Bring them in, he sits back down – I look forward to it. He’s completely caught off-guard when Sharon and Phyllis enter. If looks could kill, he’d be dead.

Jack and Ashley have cups of tea while Traci has a glass of something stronger (for some reason, Jack unfolds a napkin and places it in his lap, which is weird because he’s having a beverage) Stop blaming yourself, he implores. We had no idea either. It seems so obvious to Traci now – she was so dazzled by all the attention. If he abducted Sharon and Phyllis, I’m to blame for that too, she frets.

What are you doing here? Martin is surprised to see Sharon. And you are?? he looks at Phyllis. You know who I am, she asks Chance if she can hit him. Ashley has DID, she told Traci lies, Martin thinks that Sharon, as a fellow psychologist, must understand that. As a fellow psychologist, Sharon diagnoses him as a delusional narcissist. When they recite the riddles he posed to them, Martin doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Why did you do it? Phyllis slides a bottle of water across the table – all these questions must be making you thirsty. Are you afraid it might be drugged? Martin decides he’ll leave. Chance says no. The ladies have more to say – admit it already. Tell us why you did it, Phyllis persists. We won. You lost. You think you’re so smart. We beat you. Enough!!! All are astonished when a furious Martin stands and pounds the table.

Seems we hit a nerve, Sharon comments. ‘Alan’s’ just tired of the accusations – he came back to Paris to his life being turned upside down. You all call Martin a monster but you misunderstand him. And, I didn’t understand his brilliance until it was too late. I didn’t believe in his genius. Then I saw it – he proved he was a genius the night he facilitated Ashley’s breakthrough in Paris. He succeeded where I failed. Is that why you kidnapped us? To facilitate a breakthrough? Sharon calmly asks. Were you able to resolve your differences? Martin can’t help himself. No, Phyllis answers – your experiment failed. YOU failed. Sharon and I hate each other even more.

Back at the club, Traci continues to blame herself. I became the cover for a predator. Sharon and Phyllis won’t blame you, Jack’s sure. Ashley could blame herself, Alan was MY friend. Traci worries – this must be so triggering for you. Ashley agrees with Jack’s suggestion that she check in with her doctor. You were so brave and smart to confide in Jack, Ashley’s praise continues. What now? Hopefully, Chance finds the evidence to put Martin behind bars.

No, impossible – you wouldn’t be here as a united front if you hated each other, Martin protests. Sharon hates ‘this bitch’. Phyllis hates Sharon more than she did before they were kidnapped. When they shout at each other, Martin thinks their act a bit ‘heavy handed’; he’s not confessing to anything. Chance is now sure the fingerprints will prove Martin’s guilt. You failed, your experiment failed. LOSER! Phyllis gloats. Alan would be embarrassed by you. He’s not worth the ink on his diploma! Martin loses control – I’M the one who changed Ashley AND you two. I did NOT fail! I heightened your humanity! How can that be a crime!?

I did nothing wrong – I helped them, Martin repeats. You don’t understand what I did for you. Maybe we’ll come visit you – play a game or two, Sharon and Phyllis leave Chance to stare menacingly at Martin (who now realizes he’s screwed himself)

Excusing herself to splash water on her face, Traci pauses in the lobby to flashback to Alan’s proposal. She looks devastated as she removes her engagement ring.

Back at the station, Chance reads Martin his rights as he puts him in handcuffs.

We’ll get through this, together, Jack comforts Traci when she rejoins him and Ashley. Sharon and Phyllis then arrive to update that Martin got outed by his own ego and has been arrested. Traci’s SO sorry. It’s not your fault – you were his victim too, Sharon’s just happy to say ‘it’s over’.
