Holden continues to listen with great interest as Audra and Lily discuss her using her connection to him to get information – and whether she (Audra) can be trusted.
Jack finally speaks – it’s perfect, I love it (and you) Diane’s delighted when he and Kyle toast with champagne to a job well done.
Continuing to admire the ‘perfect blend of old world style and contemporary aesthetic’, Jack flashes back to a touching moment with his beloved father. Moving on to the ‘spectacular’ dining room, he’s sure Diane will be ‘fully embraced’ by the whole family.
Audra claims to have nothing to hide. You knew Holden was posing as Damian but said nothing – Lily’s really tried with her but doesn’t trust Audra because she lied since first coming to town. When Holden appears, Lily wonders who’s running the companies in LA.
Over drinks, Adam knows Chelsea loves her job as Creative Director at Marchetti but lists the many reasons why she should work with him at NM (as his COO) Chelsea can’t help but mention that Sally used to work with him.
Adam’s not looking to replicate his working dynamic with Sally. This isn’t about experience – we can bounce ideas off each other at work and home (and on the drive in between) With ‘all these people’ watching (all four of them) Adam gets on bended-knee to embarrass Chelsea.
Damian and I have everything under control, Holden is interrogated by both Lily and Audra. Damian tells me what I need to know. Are he and Dumar up to something shady? Audra asks.
Kyle assures his parents that he and Harrison will still be around. It’ll be impossible to keep us away. This will always be home, he and Diane exchange ‘I love you’s’ and a hug.
‘The whole restaurant was entertained’, Adam persists until Chelsea agrees to think about it. But now, it’s time for more lame banter.
Snapping some photos to send Claire, Kyle hopes she comes over later to see the house for herself. Congratulations – bravo, he heads back to work – leaving Diane to ask Jack what he doesn’t like. I can take it.
Audra and Lily ‘team up’ on Holden. Damian can be difficult but I’d never betray his confidence (and would take a bullet for him) Would he take one for you? Audra wonders.
Hmmm – Jack thinks the moulding detail might be a bit too formal. Diane only had it painted. Anything else? The sofa material is perhaps too feminine. It’s the same Italian velvet you admired in Traci’s NY apartment, Diane protests. From another angle, Jack admits it ties the room together. The portrait above the fireplace looks familiar. Diane found it in the attic – Dina bought it for John in 1956. Don’t ask how much it cost to have re-framed. Near tears, Jack wonders why he ever doubted her.
Chelsea’s distracted by Adam’s job offer. It would be a challenge but there’d have to be guidelines. Could we work together without hating each other?
Holden doesn’t like the direction of this conversation but can’t blame Lily and Audra for being suspicious. He can’t help them – Damian’s new connection to his family has changed everything. He misses LA. When Audra asks why he doesn’t go back, Holden thinks that an interesting question.
This house needed your touch, Jack now declares Diane as much a part of it as the rest of the family. He wishes his parents could be here to see the wonderful job she’s done. Diane’s so relieved.
When Chelsea again brings up Sally, Adam claims he was a different person back then. No, he won’t push her away and he won’t be upset if she declines. Chelsea loves her job at Marchetti and doesn’t want to leave Summer in the lurch. Sally and Chloe will step up, Adam’s sure. Thanking him with a kiss, Chelsea’s embarrassed when all five people at Society break out into applause that sounds like fifty.
When Holden excuses himself to take a call from Damian, Lily can see that Holden’s in town for Audra. You told Nate things were casual between you two. It’s anything but – what does he have on you? What happened in LA? How big a problem will this turn into? Audra and Holden exchange a look of guilt and fear across the room.
