Holden continues to interrogate Audra on the guy she was talking to. Something’s going on. Audra’s not holding anything back. Holden knows all her tells, like the sly eyes and taunting tone. Were you spying on me? Audra’s scowls. Just let me know who he is and I’ll leave it alone. Kyle Abbott. As in the Jabot Abbotts? he finds that ‘interesting’.
At the office, Diane shows Jack and Kyle her tablet. Are we getting into the jewelry business? Kyle asks. Those expensive looking broaches are a lipstick/compact mirror – a product popular in the 50’s that she’d like to bring to Jabot Classic. Kyle reports that Audra claims to have a great new product – but Vibrante doesn’t even exist yet. Jack correctly guesses that Victor’s funding it.
Claire tells her Mom and grandmother that if grandpa feels heard, he’ll be more inclined to hear us. Her plan? To throw a party.
It sounds like an ambitious plan to Nikki but there’s no harm in trying. Both she and Vikki are onboard (though not as optimistic that it’ll work)
Back on the patio, Holden asks why Audra was pushing Kyle’s buttons. Seeing her again, looking into her big, beautiful brown eyes brought back memories. We handled ‘that situation’ as a team. They were intoxicating times; a rush Holden hasn’t felt since but would like to again – with you. When he gently cups her chin, she pushes his hand away.
Confirming that Victor’s backing Audra, Jack won’t let Kyle blame himself. He’s not threatened by this little company. Vibrante will end up like Glacade – nowhere. Audra’s all bluster and bravado but she’s afraid of failing spectacularly. Maybe it has to do with Victor planting spies at Jabot. When Victor goes after something, nothing stops him.
Phyllis admits she’s been going through a hard time – I’m spiralling. Daniel hopes she’ll come up with something to inspire him. That’s a lot of pressure, but Nick has an idea. Let’s get out of here.
Audra’s super pumped about this new product. Kyle wants to find out what it is so he can steal it. Jack doesn’t want him involved in corporate espionage. Audra’s devious and dangerous; we can’t underestimate her. Diane agrees with Jack – leave her alone. Don’t risk making your relationship with Claire even more complicated. Kyle’s determined to find out what this product is and knows exactly how to get the truth out of her.
How many times does Audra have to tell Holden that she has no interest in rekindling their past? As many times as it takes for him to believe her. The bad memories far outweigh the good for Audra – she’s in an exciting and solid relationship with Nate. Plus, whatever you have going on with that Abbott guy, Holden wonders what Nate would think.
Surprising Kyle at Jabot, Claire updates that her Mom and grandma are both onboard. The only part of the plan not confirmed is you. Kyle hates putting their lives on hold for Victor but will hold off long enough for her to try this last ditch effort. Claire’s sure this party will show her grandfather how much they love each other. Kyle needs to be upfront about something – he has a plan of his own – it has to do with Vibrante. Audra claims to have a new product. He needs to get close to her to ‘expose the truth’. Claire’s smile vanishes and her eyes narrow. Get close to her? What exactly are you suggesting?
Phyllis thanks Nick for bringing her to the park for some fresh air. This isn’t who I am. I’m tough, but I’ve been thrown off my game. I’ve been through too much. The worst is over, Nick gives her a supportive hug.
Back at the ranch, Vikki’s off to visit Cole. As for Claire’s plan, the more we try to push Daddy to change his mind, the deeper he might dig in. He can be a very stubborn man, Nikki makes the understatement of the year. Vikki worries this party will only make things worse.
Was that a threat? Audra snaps. Of course not, Holden wouldn’t tattle to Nate. You witnessed nothing and Nate couldn’t care less about a conversation between two business acquaintances. Audra then tells Holden to forget about this friendship thing – it’ll never be enough for you – just stay away from me. Be careful, you might just get your wish, he says as Audra clip clops out.
Kyle didn’t mean get close to Audra in an inappropriate way – but he knows how to push her buttons to make her head explode. If he fakes interest in her new business, she might reveal something about this new product. If she does happen to have a miracle product, Jabot has to know about it. Trust me – you have nothing to worry about, Kyle gives Claire a hug. Over his shoulder, she does indeed look worried.
