Phyllis wants Tessa to continue looking after Daniel. We’ve become friends but he doesn’t need anyone looking after him – Tessa doesn’t think he’s struggling. Near tears, Phyllis disagrees – she’ll always worry about her son – but she’s off to the Riviera to meet someone who will change her life.
My father encouraged you to work with your family, Abby’s defensive. Encouraged? That’s one way to put it, Lily quips. My Dad went out of his way to protect Winters – why would he do something underhanded to hurt it? You wouldn’t side with Dumas against my father – right???
Relaying that Sharon’s going to the party, Tessa adds that Mariah thinks she and Nick might get back together. Phyllis doesn’t care – but trust me, she better stay out of the way of what I’m doing.
Devon won’t take sides if it comes to that – we just want to protect Winters. Abby’s insulted that they’d even consider siding with Dumas over her father – taking Chancellor from you was awful – but he was only doing what Neil would want for you. Declaring that ‘pretty presumptuous’ of Victor, Lily again theorises that Dumas is Tucker. Nate tells them to go in eyes wide open – embrace the mystery. We can’t stop what’s coming – buckle up and enjoy the ride.
Glad to hear that his Dad and Chris will be in town for a while, Daniel will never end his quest for his Dad’s secret spaghetti ingredient. Awkward stares are exchanged when Phyllis arrives (with Tessa)
Tessa leaves Phyllis to boast that she’s going to a party hosted by THE Aristotle Dumas (in the South of France) He’s going to reveal himself to an elite few. Who’d you bribe to get that invitation? Chris wipes the smile off Phyllis’ face.
Amy’s only been out of the US once – to Bahamas for her honeymoon. We’ve talked about Dumas so much that Lily feels like she knows him already.
Phyllis isn’t shocked that a groupie like Chris would be jealous of her – bouncing around on a tour bus can’t be fun. Leaning into Danny, Chris isn’t jealous – she has everything she wants. When Danny finally changes the subject to Phyllis’ terrifying ordeal, Phyllis says it was so vile she suspected Chris. Did you tell your Dad about your guitar lessons? she blabs. No – Daniel was hoping to get more practice in first. Danny’s thrilled that his son’s playing guitar. Are you learning online? No, Tessa’s teaching him – he brings her over to chat. Is Daniel a chip off the old block? Danny asks. Tessa supports Daniel when he declines his Mom’s request to play something. Taken to the patio for a private goodbye, Daniel hopes his Mom’s doing this for the right reasons.
Travel safe, Amy sends the entourage off – with a big hug for Damian. I miss him already, she tells Nate. When I hugged Damian, I felt a chill down my spine – what does that mean? she doesn’t look convinced by Nate’s explanation that it’s excitement and grief at seeing her son leave.
Phyllis hates that Danny and the Bug are here to influence Daniel in her absence. She’s not jealous, she just likes having Daniel to herself. This isn’t a contest, Daniel loves both his parents – his Mom a bit more. Phyllis goes to sit with Danny and Chris. Don’t get too comfortable, I’ll be back, she warns Chris. After she leaves, Daniel comes in to say that maybe this party will turn his Mom’s life around.
Next WeeK; The travellers are on a fancy train (a la The Orient Express) It looks like we’re about to start moving, Sharon announces. Whaddaya say? Ready to head into the lair of Aristotle Dumas? Billy smirks at Victor (who smirks back) … Now in a garden, Diane asks – is this some sort of maze? It’s the beginning of your challenge – please, enter, a young man instructs the three Abbotts and Audra…. Lily has this weird feeling that things aren’t going to go the way they think…. Zoom out to a TV monitor – a woman is being watched (I can’t tell who because I had to watch the show on my tiny phone – because hubby is watching hockey. Go Edmonton – I guess)
