Billy’s made Sally a fancy drink she declares ‘perfection’. Odd that we haven’t seen any of the staff that must be here to maintain this place. Thank God! When Diane and Jack are relieved to have found everyone, Billy offers to make drinks for them both. While the men are annoyed by their absentee host, Sally and Diane are on the same page – relax and enjoy. Jack’s as annoyed as Victor must be. Has anyone seen Kyle?
Still in the maze, Kyle badgers Audra for a sample of her new fragrance. No go – Dumas will be the only person to get a preview. No, she didn’t steal it – I’m not a thief (implying Kyle is) You’ll soon find out how right I am, she clip-clops off.
Wait – we have to go through there alone? Damian looks terrified. Follow the sound of voices, Carter instructs. What if we get lost? Damian’s question is ignored by Carter – who leaves Lily to lead the way.
Audra, wait, Kyle catches up. She claims that her scent is special -fresh, exciting and unique (like myself) Again asking for a whiff, Kyle doubts she even has a product. Audra pulls a perfume bottle from her purse, sprays some on her neck and invites Kyle to smell her. What do you think? Not bad, Kyle thinks it ‘intoxicating’ (and leaves her smiling smugly)
Nick’s always there for Phyllis. Sharon joins them – welcome, glad you could make it, she lies – adding pointedly that Mariah and NICK talked her into coming. Sharon finds it soothing – walking a labyrinth can be healing. She found a spot with amazing flowers she wants to show Nick. Would you like to come along too? she asks Phyllis (who declines in favour of finding a bar – but looks instantly nervous when left alone)
Hi everyone, Kyle and Audra make a beeline to the bar for expensive single malt scotch. Looks like they found each other in the maze, Sally makes things so awkward that Diane asks to speak to Jack in private. She worries about what Audra’s up to. We have to trust our son, Jack says – as Kyle and Audra clink glasses and drink.
Damian’s on the verge of a panic attack. This is ‘green prison’. Who does this?! What’s wrong? Lily asks. Damian’s claustrophobic – I’ve gotta go! he hurries off.
It’s OK, Lily reassures Damian. Which way did we come from!? he starts jogging. Just go without me. We’re not leaving you here – breathe in, breathe out, Lily guides him. We’re with you. The grapes are probably growing nearby – there’s a glass of wine with your name in it. Devon rolls his eyes and shakes his head before following the pair.
Kyle tells his Dad that he hasn’t been able to reach Claire. Audra let him smell her fragrance – it’s nothing familiar to him and ‘not bad’. I may have my work cut out for me. Diane joins Audra to wonder why she wasn’t talking to Victor (who got her invited) He believes in me; that I can execute my goals – Audra’s here for the publicity stunt. She has nothing to discuss with Victor but she and Kyle have a lot to coordinate – we’ll be spending a lot of time together – I hope you don’t mind. Phyllis appears – what’s a chateau experience without me? she asks Billy. Yes, Dumas approved her invite – ‘enthusiastically’. I’m just as important as everyone else here.
The Winters party has finally arrived, Carter reports to his boss. Where’s Abby? She’s flying out later due to a sick child. Everyone’s making their way to cocktail hour. It’s almost time, Aristotle clasps his hands in his lap.
Lily introduces Damian to everyone as the guy she poached from Dumas. He quickly clarifies that he’s as much in the dark as everyone else. When he heads for the bar, Lily needs a drink too.
Finally joining the others, Nick and Sharon look mildly surprised that Phyllis managed to beat them there. When Nick goes to get drinks, Phyllis says ‘you know what I like’ then sits with Sharon in awkward silence.
When Kyle complains to Nick about the lack of cell service, Nick hasn’t talked to Victoria but is sure Cole’s better by now. Jack updates Diane that Audra’s wearing her perfume. Diane smelt it and hates to admit it but it’s good. She’s up to something – don’t trust her.
Damian thanks Lily for making it sound like Dumas didn’t fire him. It’s strange being here – he wonders why he’s here.
Devon hopes Dumas shows up tomorrow. No one seems to be buying that he’s detained in Oslo. He could be watching us right now. Jack thinks it a cowardly way to do business. If it’s even about business, Nick muses.
That’s all Carter, Aristotle dismisses him. If I may, Sir – is your plan still to wait til tomorrow to greet your guests? Continuing to watch his guests, Dumas isn’t sure he can hold out that long.
If Dumas doesn’t show up tomorrow, Nick’s leaving. Jack too. It’s a big deal for Dumas to reveal himself, Damian’s never even met him. Phyllis and Billy vow to stick around. Audra and Kyle too. Lily’s there for answers. All raise a glass to toast their host.
It’s time to move things along, Dumas instructs Carter to have Victor and Nikki join the other guests. Let everyone know I made it to Nice and am ready to greet them. Then, make the call – I need her (Amanda?) It’s time for me to make myself known, he turns his chair around and stands. Surprise, surprise – it’s Billy Flynn (from DAYS)
