Billy didn’t expect to see Chance here. He’s surprised too – I don’t work at Chancellor – I quit when YOU were in charge, he reminds. If Cane’s after Chancellor, what could he possibly want from us? both men wonder.
Devon’s with Damian – you don’t owe Cane anything (he wants to leave) We can’t abandon Abby, Lily wants the night to think on it – I’ll give you my answer in the morning. Damian thanks Lily for helping him through the maze – now, he wants to help her. Take your time, let us know what you decide. He’s ready to pack up and leave as soon as she says so. We’re friends right? Friends are there for each other. Cane announces his arrival by clearing his throat.
Mike does wonder why Cane was so insistent that they attend his event. Diane and Jack hope things become clear soon.
Victor greets Abby but when Mike says ‘hello’, he scowls – so you came after all. Cane insisted, Mike’s not sure why. Still scowling, Victor will relay his discussion with Cane with people he trusts (Nick and Nikki follow him out) As Mike gulps his drink, Diane gives him a supportive pat on the shoulder.
It’s nice to see you again, Cane says to Devon. We finally meet in person, he extends his hand towards Damian (who ignores it and gripes about being part of his deceit) When he wants to speak to Lily in private, Damian and Devon reluctantly leave at her insistence. It’s wonderful to see you, Cane begins. She can’t say the same. Get some sleep, we’ll talk tomorrow, he decides. Lily’s not sure she’ll be there tomorrow. Cane has plans to share; let me explain. There’s more to the story; it involves you. You want us to get back together? Lily’s astounded. Cane hasn’t given up on ‘us’.
Are you kidding? You’re delusional if you think there’s hope for us, Lily recoils. You’re the love of my life and I’m yours – Cane remembers their wedding like it was yesterday. Let it go, Lily needs sleep – she’ll be the one to decide whether she’s here tomorrow. Good night, he’s left to pour himself a drink, which he pushes aside.
In another part of the maze, Victor relays his talk with Cane to Nikki and Nick – Cane claims that he and his father built this empire legitimately. They mended fences before he died. Nikki won’t shed a tear for Collin. He wants Chancellor Industries. The nerve of this guy, Nick huffs. What would we get in exchange? Cane’s entire business portfolio. It doesn’t make any sense – Jill sold it to us so it could be run by Katherine’s oldest friend, Nikki adds. Victor asks her what she thinks about Cane’s offer.
After flashing back to his exchange with Lily earlier, Cane rejoins the group to note that the Baldwins are drinking his best bottle of wine. He’s glad they agreed to join him. Mike congratulates Cane on assembling the who’s who of GC. How did you pull all this off – and why? All watch as Cane claims that he’s turning over a new leaf. Would it be ‘self-grandizing’ of me to think that I might be involved in these plans? Mike asks. We’ll discuss that in the morning. Carter will show you to your sleeping quarters. Glad that Abby could make it, Cane tells her that Devon’s in their ‘train car’ – go with Mike and Lauren; Carter will show you the way. Jack and Billy would like to know why they’ve been brought here. All in good time, Cane takes Chance off for a private chat.
Finding a note ‘see you tomorrow – C’, Lily rips it up and throws it in a trash can.
These companies are worth a lot more than Chancellor (Nick’s done some research) They don’t have the Chancellor name, the money’s not important to Nikki. Acquiring these companies would increase Nemwans power, fortune and reach, Nick adds. Victor will leave the decision to Nikki. When she refuses to give up Chancellor because Kay wouldn’t want her to, it’s exactly what Victor wanted to hear.
Sally, Jack and Diane decide to go back to the train but Billy wants to stick around and find out what Cole wanted to talk to Chance about. All wonder why he was invited. He’s a Chancellor, Sally points out. He’s also a cop, Billy adds.
Cane tells Chance that he hasn’t been invited as a Chancellor – he’s invited him as a detective. I need your help. I suspect that by the end of the week, someone’s going to try to kill me.
