Gathered on the train, everyone is understandably shaken and have questions. When Amanda needs to speak to her client in private, Cane declines – he has nothing to hide. We’re all suspects, Devon concludes.
Chance has no reason to suspect anyone. You anticipated something criminal would go down – that’s why you invited Chance, Nick glares at Cane. The invitation should have read BYOL – bring your own lawyer, Abby quips. There’s only one person with motive to kill Damian, Lily says pointedly. Damian wasn’t the intended victim, I was, Cane explains that a bottle from his private stash was drugged.
When Cane brings over the box with the missing dagger, Lily lashes out – Damian was drugged by YOUR alcohol and killed by YOUR knife, she starts to cry at the thought of poor Amy and Nate. Chance asks everyone to return to their sleeping cars – he’ll interview them one by one, starting with Phyllis. Are we all in danger? Devon’s question makes everyone nervous.
Based on the evidence, Chance believes this was a calculated attack with one intended victim. We should all be safe for the night. Except my client, Amanda interjects. After everyone files out, Chance asks Phyllis what happened. She talked to Jack and Diane – we were all lost in the maze so we split up. She hasn’t seen them since – just sayin’. There was something different about the maze – like someone rearranged it to disorient us, she adds.
Good – you’re awake, Nick bluntly drops the bomb on Sharon that Damian was murdered.
Back at the centre of the maze, Cane pours himself a drink. It happened so quickly, he tells Amanda. She needs him to be honest. Did you have anything to do with Damian’s murder?
Phyllis tells Chance that she got to the ‘statue garden’ in time to see Damian slumped over in Cane’s arms, a knife in his back. Cane called me over and lowered Damian to the ground. No, neither of us touched the knife. No, she didn’t see anyone else. Think before answering, Chance instructs – did you witness anything to indicate that Cane had stabbed Damian?
Back in the garden, Amanda lays out the incriminating facts that point to Cane. The murder weapon is YOUR dagger – YOUR bourbon was drugged – both have disappeared.
Lily can’t believe Damian’s gone – we were laughing a few hours ago. Devon didn’t even know they were involved. It just happened – no one knew – except Cane. Lily was very blunt with him – to make Cane back off. OMG – what if it’s my fault? I pushed Cane too hard? Abby reminds Lily that Cane thinks he was the target. Or he made up the whole thing, Devon suggests. What if the father of my children’s a murderer? Lily’s further distraught.
