Back in the maze, Amanda asks Carter if he’s covering for Cane; do you think he’s guilty of murder? No – Carter thinks that ‘ludicrous’. When Lily joins them, he says ‘Cane loves you very much’. You should give him another Chance. Cane’s arrival results in awkward silence.
Go for it, Nick grimaces as Sally cleans his wound again. As Billy confirms that the guard is still knocked out, she goes to work using an alcohol-soaked teabag and salt.
‘Hello, Lily’, Cane says. You disgust me, she sneers and marches off. That went well, he quips to Amanda – who has questions; what do Victor and Chance think they know? Needing a private word with Carter, Cane asks him ‘did you hide the knife to protect me because you think I killed Damian’?
Lauren advises caution before giving Cane what he wants. Nikki wants her son back safe, sound and cleared of these charges. She’ll give up Chancellor in a heartbeat to protect her children.
Seriously? Salt and teabags? Nick seems to be rebounding slightly. After some ‘circus’ puns, Sharon assures Nick that he’ll be able to look that bastard (Cane) in the face when he’s exonerated and the real killer caught. Sally and Billy share a worried look.
You’re benevolent and generous, not a cold blooded killer, Carter praises. Did you hide the knife in Nick’s bathroom to protect me? Cane continues – my private reserve bourbon was drugged and security footage erased – how could Nick do that? The murder was a carefully laid out plan, by someone familiar with the property. I need the truth – did you kill Damian for me? Cane repeats. Carter’s eyes well up.
Running into Amanda in the maze, Nikki demands to see Cane – your employer is holding Nick (and Sharon) – you know he’s not a killer. Against Lauren’s advice, Nikki announces that she’s ready to trade her company for her son’s freedom.
Thanked for saving his life, a humble Sally tells Nick that it was a group effort. The foursome slowly make their way out.
You want to sign Chancellor over to Cane? Amanda asks. If Nick’s released and doesn’t face charges for Damian’s murder. Lucky for you, I have the power to make that happen, Amanda says. Lauren warns Nikki that she’s playing into Cane’s hands. She has a signed afadavit that gives Nick an alibi – and paperwork to transfer Chancellor to Cane. See what’s happening here? They were ready for this, please, please, think about this, Lauren persists.
Elsewhere, Carter credits Cane with saving his live – you gave me purpose – I owe you. You owe me nothing, I’ll always protect you. You can trust me, Cane needs to know everything that happened the night Damian was killed. Victor and Chance eavesdrop from behind the hedge.
Next Week: What’s happening? Lily asks. Carter pulls out a gun and takes her hostage. Chance and Cane say in unison – don’t do it – don’t make things worse for yourself. How could I make things worse? It was all for you and now you want to lock me up? I’ll find my way out of here! Carter vows … In his office, Cane tells Amanda that she made the right decision. The authorities need to be brought in. Are they still here? They’re just wrapping up, Amanda says – The bodies will be taken to the coroner’s office but the case is pretty well closed. You’re in the clear. Am I? Cane doesn’t seem to agree…. In the bar-car, Nick’s sitting with (and leaning on) his Mom. When Victor’s phone is the first to go off, Sharon wonders ‘why now’? Because Cane knows he lost. In his office, a furious Cane sweeps the contents of his desk onto the floor.
