What the hell!? Billy doesn’t get far before running into Carter and his captive, Lily.

Calm down, we’re all friends here, Billy says. He killed Damian, Lily whimpers. Chance and Cane hear them and split up. Take me and let Lily go, Cane appears to say.

Sally returns from her hike to report that the equipment was being removed – the work crew said the tracks have been clear for two days. When Nikki runs in to sit with Nick, he weakly tells her he’s OK.

In the office, Amanda disables the software that’s been jamming cell service and calls for an ambulance to the chateau.

Cane holds his hands up and praises Carter when he lets Lily go. Tell me how you want to handle what comes next – you’re in charge. Chance is on the other side of the hedge.

You expect everything and give back nothing – you only care about Chancellor and Lily, Carter unravels – she doesn’t want you, he aims at Cane and is about to shoot when Chance runs over. As he and Carter wrestle over the gun, it goes off. Unfortunately, it’s Chance who’s shot – and dies as Lily, Billy and Cane watch helplessly. All tense up when hearing a single gunshot nearby.

On the train, Victor’s phone pings. Service is back on. He calls Adam – send a helicopter – Nick’s been hurt. Why is the service back on now? they wonder. Because Cane knows he’s lost, Victor exits.

As Cane runs over to Carter’s dead body, Jack and Diane arrive to hear what’s transpired and that Chance is dead. When Cane goes over to ask Lily if she’s OK, she just wants to go home.

Hearing a helicopter, Nikki, Lauren and Sally leave Sharon to take care of Nick (since he’s always been there for her) Asking her to come closer, he gives her a long-awaited kiss.

A distraught Amanda joins Cane. Is that…? (Carter’s body is covered with a table cloth) Yes – no one knew what he was capable of, Cane asks her to Contact the police. How!? Unless you’ve been able to all along! Jack lashes out at Cane. It was never more than a vacation, Cane claims – you can all go home now. But we can’t ALL go home, this is going to destroy Nina and Jill, Jack points out. I’ll have to live with that, an emotional Cane is comforted by Lily – she’s sorry for accusing him of murdering Damian but ‘you’ve already lost’, she exits.

Disgusted to hear Cane tell Billy that they’ll discuss him investing in Abbott Communications when they get back to GC, Jack leaves with Diane. When Phyllis arrives on the scene, Billy provides an update. No, he hasn’t soured on working with Cane; he still wants Chancellor even more (in Chance’s memory) – I need your help with that.
