Kyle’s packing when his phone pings. Finally! He wastes no time calling Claire. Are you OK? she asks. Yes, although Dumas’ chateau turned out to be Cane Ashby’s house of horrors.

In his office, Cane watches his surveillance cameras – complete with gunshot.

On the train, Jack rants about two good men being gone because of Cane. Billy talked to Abby; Phyllis dreads telling Summer. Carter always seemed a bit off to Diane – it’s tragic. Jack’s astounded when Billy and Phyllis point out that Cane’s been proven innocent.

Kyle explains that Cane Ashby is Lily’s ex – Dumas was an alias. They’ve all been stuck on this mountain with no phones due to a storm. There were two murders and a suicide. Yes, your family’s safe – your Uncle Nick’s in the hospital but will be OK. How’s Cole? He didn’t make it.

Chance was such a good man, Jill and Nina will be devastated, Billy assumes his Mom will blame him. He (Chance) died as he lived, a hero.

Amanda joins Cane in his office to ask how he’s doing. He should have seen that Carter wasn’t well – three people have died, he mopes. The investigation’s concluded – Carter confessed on camera. She stuck to the narrative they agreed to. You’re in the clear. Am I? Cane doesn’t seem convinced.

When Jack offers to be with Billy when he calls Jill, Billy’s decided to leave that call to Cane. If you’re looking for my son, he’s not here, Diane intercepts Audra.

Wishing he could hold Claire, Kyle will be home asap – I love you. Vikki comes down to say that she just talked to her Mom and Dad. No, they didn’t tell her who had died. Today will be about the two of us saying goodbye (to Cole)

How can Cane live with three men dying on his property? Chance died saving my life. We had no way of predicting what Carter would do, Amanda acknowledges the tragedy, but you were good to Carter. Nick’s in the hospital because I thought he was a murderer! That said, Cane’s goals are the same – there’s no way in hell he’ll back down from his vision.

Nate’s brother is dead, Audra’s not looking for Kyle and not in the mood to argue with Diane. As Sally pours her friend a drink, Jack reads the invitation – ‘wait and hope’. We still don’t know what Cane’s plan was (or is)

Is this about Lily? Amanda asks. Everything is about Lily, Cane’s determined to see his plan through. We came so close to Nikki signing over Chancellor. The Abbotts and Newmans will make it impossible, Amanda’s sure. But no, she’s not walking away. As soon as she leaves, Cane sweeps everything off his desk.

Nate drops by the tackhouse all dressed up to honour Cole – it’s important to hold our friends and family close. Audra called him but they didn’t talk long – it sounds like quite an ordeal. When the ladies agree to postpone Cole’s service, Nate thinks it wise to wait – no sorrow cuts deeper than losing someone you love.
