Despite Claire and Holden politely (and not so politely) telling Audra to get lost, she sits beside them at Society’s bar. Noting that ‘Bambi’s had a few rounds’, Audra assumes Claire dumped Kyle (the cheating ‘asshat’)
Victor comes home to a romantic scene Nikki’s set up as a surprise; a reminder of how much she adores him.
Coming here (the train) is a ‘smart move’, Cane pours a drink for Mike and himself.
Mike lists the many (and obvious) reasons Cane hasn’t received a warm welcome in GC – ‘I don’t know if you’re brave or stupid’ but you like chaos and causing trouble. Why did you invite Lauren and me to Nice? And why did you invite me here tonight? he asks.
Seated at the nicely set table, Nikki gushes over Victor and toasts ‘to the love of my life’.
Audra just ran into Kyle; good for you (for dumping him) Claire doesn’t believe anything Audra says, and she hasn’t dumped Kyle. What would he think of this little date? Audra wonders. We were just talking about what a funny joke you are, Claire slurs.
Dining on ‘all of Victor’s favourites’, Nikki mentions him testing Kyle’s devotion to Claire and what Cane could be up to. Victor’s been fending off attacks since the orphanage – Cane doesn’t know who he’s dealing with.
Why did you come here tonight? Cane turns the question back on Mike. We shared a jail cell together; I know you love the game too much to retire – your skills should be used, not squandered (now that you’re out from under Victor’s boot)
Nikki’s pleased that Cane’s been ‘neutralized’ and that Victor’s accepting Claire being with Kyle. Having hidden a ring in the last oyster, Nikki brings him to tears with her outpouring of love.
The bickering ends with the ‘pathetic’ Audra leaping off her bar stool to lunge at Claire. You don’t want to do that, Holden grabs her wrist.
Cane’s always admired Mike’s sense of humour, his talents and discretion – I could use someone like you – as a ‘fixer’. He knows that Victor’s demanding and doesn’t return loyalty – I don’t blame you for walking away. Look at everything you had to give up; Victor’s given up nothing.
