Clasping hands across the table, Nikki and Victor shower one another with compliments and memories. She now brings over a present; a new leather jacket.

Claire’s got you wrapped around her little finger, Audra mocks Holden, then Claire – you tried to poison the Newmans – maybe Kyle’s the one who needs to open his eyes. Claire stands to agree menacingly – maybe I’M the dangerous one and YOU need to watch YOUR back.

Continuing to threaten and taunt one another, Audra smirks – such a lady. Such a bitch, Claire retorts. And, when Holden decides to take her elsewhere for coffee and food, Claire pouts sarcastically at Audra – you’re gonna be all alone, again. I almost feel sorry for you.

Victor has to wonder if Nikki planned this romantic dinner to manipulate him into leaving Kyle alone. Maybe, she admits. Victor’s focus is now that sonofabitch, Cane (and how to take advantage of him)

Cane declares himself a good employer – my employees like working for me. And they’re loyal, like Carter, Mike guesses that Cane invited him to Nice to test his loyalty to Victor. Put my number in your phone before you go, Cane insists. You added it to my favourites, Mike complains – then looks at the text Cane sent him (designed to prolong their conversation)

At CL’s, a tipsy Claire and Holden place an order with Ester, then sit to discuss her giving as good as she got (with Audra)

I kinda went off on Audra, didn’t I? Claire should have controlled her temper – but it felt pretty good. People like Audra will always use my past against me. I tried to kill my family, she tells Holden. That’s a lot, he understates – but you got the help you needed – everyone makes mistakes. Claire again asks about his time in LA. It was illegal, she suspects.

Victor tells Nikki that Cane built his fortune on an inheritance Collin swindled from Madam De Leon, the chateau’s former owner. Cane was complicit, Victor’s sure it would ruin him, and will (if he doesn’t do what I want him to do)

What’s this? Mike asks. Your salary; Cane wants someone to help him simplify things; you’re that person. What do you need from me exactly? Mike won’t betray Victor. Has a crime occurred? Is that what you need me to ‘fix’?

Claire encourages Holden to spill the tea on his past with Audra. If she did something illegal, maybe I can get her to shut up. Yes, we’re friends; Claire’s sorry for putting Holden on the spot – but maybe your past makes you more interesting, she coaxes.

Cane won’t say more without client-lawyer privilege. Consider the offer – that figure is just the starting point, he tries to entice Mike.

The Newmans wrap up their perfect night by dancing in the living room; complete with flashbacks to another dance in their old (nearly identical) living room. I love you, they kiss.
