Jack saw a chink in Cane’s armour – he has regrets. It was obvious that he wants back in Jill’s good graces, he tells Diane.
Did you know before or after that Collin swindled a dying woman in France? Were the two of you lying to me as I held Collin’s hand at his bedside? Jill asks. When Cane swears on his children that he didn’t know, Lily appears to snarl – don’t you dare swear on our children to cover your deceit.
Is Phyllis supposed to pretend she doesn’t hear alarm bells going off? No, she’s supposed to pretend Daniel’s a ‘grown ass man’ who doesn’t need his Mom to save him.
Diane isn’t sure Jill can pull this off and what if Cane changes his mind in the future? Jack’s sure he can convince Jill to destroy the program once Cane gives it to her.
Lily came because the kids are going to read that their grandfather scammed a dying, old woman. Wait – you knew this was going to come out!? Cane didn’t think Victor would release the info he was blackmailing him with. Reading a few lines of the expose online, Cane swears he had no part in it. As Jill looks devastated, Lily’s not sure what to believe – but the twins WILL see that you are your father’s son.
Victor’s no paragon of truth, he has no proof. IF Collin did what Victor claims, I didn’t know about it! Cane sputters. Lily doesn’t believe him and having been neutral prior to this, she’ll now give the twins permission to cut their father loose. I won’t let you break their hearts anymore. After she leaves, Cane blinks back tears – I can’t fix this. It’s over.
Jack’s sure Cane will give Jill the AI program – then Jill will give it to him. To destroy it, right? Diane asks. Yeah. Sure, Jack lies unconvincingly – then admits he’ll use it on Victor and Newman Enterprises.
While Nick’s checking his phone for word from Sharon, Adam and Chelsea are fielding calls related to their big story. The press are asking for sources. About to leave for LA, Nick gets a text that pisses him off (his Dad ordering him to stay in town)
When Lily arrives at CL’s, Daniel asks if she’s OK. Sure, if pure rage is OK, she tells them to read what Newman Media just published, then turns on Phyllis – thanks for being part of the reason Cane won’t go away.
Nick tells Adam and Chelsea that Sharon thinks something’s off with Noah. Chelsea thinks he should go to LA; Adam thinks he should obey Victor and wait until they know Cane’s reaction.
It sure as hell isn’t over, Jill tells Cane that everyone in town’s been beaten up by the press. Cane feels that Lily’s right – AM I a ‘good man’? You weren’t sure when you came in to accuse me of being in on Collin’s scam, he points out. Jill advises him to prove that he’s a good man in a way that can’t be denied.
Lily lashes out at Phyllis for always defending Cane – even after two good men died. When her phone rings on cue, Phyllis excuses herself. It won’t end well for your Mom, Lily’s left to tell Daniel. She then glares at Phyllis (on her phone; Cane summons her – it’s urgent)
Jack reminds Diane of the hell Victor’s put them and Kyle through. This is the end of it all. He’s surprised when Diane goes for it. I’m all in ~hug~
