At CL’s, Danny and Chris chat about their upcoming wedding when Phyllis comes along to whine about not being invited, or even told.
When Mariah joins joins her in a serene visiting room, Tessa’s grateful she agreed to see her.
At Noah’s bedside, as the breathing apparatus hisses, Sharon talks about him wowing LA with his handsome face. Nick knows his son will keep setting the world on fire (both comments seem in poor taste considering Noah’s entire head is wrapped in bandages)
Danny wanted to tell Phyllis about the wedding in person – you’ve been difficult to pin down. Phyllis boasts that her career’s about to take off before exchanging insults with the bride-to-be.
You look so beautiful, Tessa gushes. Mariah disagrees – but quietly comments that she’d forgotten how much Tessa lights up a room. It doesn’t seem like you’re getting better, in fact, Tessa thinks Mariah’s getting worse.
On speakerphone, Victor, Nikki and Vikki send love and positive thoughts. Nick and Sharon report that Noah has a serious head injury – we can’t even see his face. Still on the phone, they question a doctor when he comes in.
Ending the call, Nick and Sharon agree to speak with the doctor outside.
Back at the ranch, the three Newmans worry. Vikki doesn’t think they should go to LA – we might overwhelm Nick and Sharon.
Noah has swelling on the brain, the doctor/surgeon wants him to remain in an induced coma while they work to reduce the swelling. This can’t be happening! Sharon cries – this is Cassie all over again!
Tessa doesn’t need Mariah to talk but she’s NOT leaving. Dealing cards, she talks about teaching Aria to play Old Maid. When you come home you can play with her. Glum and silent, a robotic Mariah picks up her cards.
Phyllis is fine with not being invited to the wedding and is sure the marriage won’t last. Both insisting they’re committed to ‘forever’, Chris isn’t concerned about the opinion of a woman who’s lived most of her life alone.
Tessa tells Mariah that she and Daniel wrote a song for Danny and Chris – they’ll perform it at the reception. You have to come. Mariah doesn’t think that’ll happen.
Phyllis isn’t upset – don’t flatter yourself – I’ve moved on. Keep moving on, Chris suggests. Phyllis came in good faith to wish them well but is met with ‘hostility and aggression’; she can’t believe Chris is so insecure about her. You may feel you don’t have the skill to keep your husband happy. Phyllis doubts they’ll even make it to the church.
