At Society, Holden’s leaving a message for Cane – there’s rumours floating around about Arabesque; he wants to help save the company (and his job) When Claire arrives his day suddenly gets ‘instantly better’.
Nikki’s on the phone with Nick when Jack arrives at the club – get them home soon, she instructs. Informing that Victor flew to LA with no notice, Nikki wonders if there’s more to him (Jack) wanting Victor to stay there.
Things are nicer here without your ‘lesser half’, Jack sits. Do you think something’s wrong in LA? Nikki wonders if he knows anything. No, Jack just hates her husband. Nikki just might fly to LA and get the answers herself.
Diane joins Kyle in the dining room as he’s busy on his laptop transferring Jabot’s assets to offshore accounts. He doesn’t see any red flags but neither knows what the AI’s capable of. Diane vows to find evidence against Victor (they brought Al Capone down on taxes) This could end badly, Kyle worries there’ll be no coming back for Jabot.
Kyle’s running on adrenaline and coffee; Diane’s too worried to sleep. The thought of Victor attacking this family again makes her blood boil. Your father’s putting on a ‘calm’ front – the weight of John’s legacy is on his shoulders. Diane’s not ‘spinning out’; she worries about Jabot (and what it will do to Jack if Victor wins)
Frustrated that her family always wants to protect her, Nikki knows that Jack also holds back to protect his loved ones. When he slips up and mentions Victor’s threats towards him, Nikki asks – what has he done now??
Informed that Claire’s meeting Kyle for a drink, Holden feels distance between them since LA. Is it because of what I told you? It’s about what you DIDN’T tell me, she corrects.
Trust/lying is a big deal to Claire in all her relationships (professional, platonic, and romantic) Holden took a risk confiding in her – maybe you’re looking for a reason to back away. Claire can read people – there’s more to the story with Audra (who appears on cue to snarl ‘get a life and stop digging into mine!’)
Maybe Dad really is as relaxed as he seems, Kyle reminds that Jabot’s changed hands, been sued, lost business etc – it’s torn this family apart. We have a plan and will do our best. If things go sideways, we’ll rebuild – as a family. Victor won’t get away with this; we’re united, Kyle makes his Mom proud.
Unwilling to confirm or deny that Victor’s using Cane’s AI to suck Arabesque dry, Nikki will keep her promise to keep him from going after Jabot. Do you have protection in place? Jack will tell her, IF she can keep this ‘massive’ secret.
It’ll come out in the press anyway, Jack tells Nikki that Jabot’s shutting down as an ‘extreme defensive move’ to avoid a cyber attack. What if you can’t come back from it?! an alarmed Nikki confirms that Victor has Cane’s AI program. She’s so sorry – and would yank it away if she could. There’s a thought, Jack’s interested.
Kyle can’t join his parents for a drink because he’s meeting Claire at Society. Maybe she’s softening, Diane hopes. Kyle thinks it might be a step in the right direction.
