Reclaiming my father’s legacy means everything to me; NE is his blood, sweat and tears, Victoria won’t let someone as disgusting as Phyllis take her father down. Nate thinks Victor’s real treasure lies in his loyal, loving family. Victoria wants to be the one to give NE back to her Dad. She’s salty that she was always his right hand – now, Adam’s the one he confides in. Not afraid to get her hands dirty, Victoria MUST be the one. Nate still thinks she should have a contingency plan.
Summer wouldn’t even let me in the door, Phyllis complains. Daniel’s only surprised that his Mom’s surprised. I’m out of your life, he puts his coat on (as Tessa’s frozen at the door) We finally have it all, Phyllis persists – why would you sabotage me? YOU sabotaged you, Daniel continues – you stole Summer’s legacy – Victor kidnapped Lily and the kids because of you. They’re fine, Phyllis shrugs it off. You’ll never acknowledge my courage, she continues – Summer would be cannonizing me if you and Nick didn’t get in her head. No way in hell you’re getting away with that!
In the ladies room, Nikki re-applies blush as Diane tells her to find another shoulder to cry on (than her kind, patient husband) Jack and I have been close for a long time, Nikki believes Diane has doubts about holding onto a man she doesn’t deserve.
Nate was devastated when he learned he couldn’t perform surgery anymore – he was lost for a long time. It can be scary and unsettling. You think I should explore other options? Victoria concludes. You’ve worked at Newman all your life, Nate wants her to think about what a reinvented Victoria Newman might look like.
I did this for the family, Phyllis insists. Asking to speak to her son in private, Daniel says ‘No – Tessa’s not going anywhere’.
Still primping in the mirror, Nikki and Diane continue to bicker. Jack and I share a special bond; Nikki doesn’t go looking for sympathy, her dear friend just gives it to her. Oh, and that lipstick isn’t one of Jabot’s best, she pauses at the door to have the last word.
Nate’s just trying to get Victoria to think about something new – IE start a company; be a professor. Teaching business 101? No thank you, Vic laughs. What did she want to be when she was a kid? A CEO. She’s determined to get NE back.
Something’s wrong – what’s happened? Nikki returns to find Victor frowning at his phone. He’ll fill her in on the way home.
Rejoining Jack, Diane assures Jack that she and Nikki didn’t ‘get into it’. ‘The facade has crumbled’, they watch the Newmans putting their coats on. Looks like Victor got some bad news. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving sonofabitch, Jack drinks.
Phyllis finds the way Daniel’s talking to her ‘detestable’ – I did this for our family. How long have you been out of a job? You could have any job with me – and Summer. Daniel doesn’t want to be the same person his Mom is. I told you that if you went ahead with this that you’d lose me, Lucy and Summer, Daniel reminds. You’ve gone too far – I’m done!
Leaving Society, Victoria appreciates the way Nate challenges her. You always help me not overreact to things, and you always make me feel better no matter what the future holds. I care about your future, and you, Nate leans in to kiss her.
You have no idea how much I love you and your sister – you’re the motivating factor behind every move in my life. In tears, Phyllis survived that hellhole (the clinic) because of her kids – and now you don’t want to talk to me ever again? Daniel turns to Tessa ‘come on’. Forever’s a long time – do you mean that? Phyllis asks as Daniel exits. Walking in from the patio, Phyllis is face to face with Sharon.
At home, Victor tells Nick that the Judge who was given the case against Matt threw it out because the detective involved in the case was ‘compromised’. Matt Clark is free.
