Cane speaks from his own experience; when your only focus is grabbing the brass ring, you assume everyone will praise your success. Sure, people envy you but they also avoid you – it makes you think it wasn’t worth it. Talk to her – if I’m right, I can get what I want and you can make peace with your Mom – what do you have to lose?
Surprised to find Sally there, Phyllis asks Billy if he’s going back to Abbott Communications or staying at Chancellor? Billy wonders why she came over so early? If it was ‘just a snag’ with the language of the contract, she could have called or emailed. Are you stabbing me in the back like you did Cane??
Victor’s family wants to know his plan. Nikki hopes it doesn’t include putting Lily and the kids in real jeopardy. Victor’s going with a plan he should have used in the very beginning.
Cane used the same stall tactic before pulling the rug out from under me, Billy recalls. Sticking with her lawyer/contract story, Phyllis can’t just hand over Chancellor based on scribbling on your hand or a cocktail napkin. Stop being paranoid. You’re welcome by the way, she leaves Billy to tell Sally that something’s going on that won’t be good news for him.
When Tessa drops by CL’s, Sharon wants to arrange a visit with Aria – Mariah isn’t ready to come with her. Tessa doesn’t think it would be a good idea anyway – it might be confusing for her. When Daniel arrives, he and Tessa go to the patio. Sharon’s thrilled when Nick arrives. We were terrified you’d found Matt! He seems to have vanished, Nick thinks he could be far away or hiding in plain sight.
Still on the train, Cane tells Phyllis that she just missed her son. Unimpressed to hear that he had a ‘promising’ talk with Daniel, she doesn’t have time for this. When Cane admits that he may need the help of a third party who Daniel respects, Phyllis suggests that Tessa can help.
Asked her opinion, Tessa thinks Daniel should give his Mom a chance. He could say the same about Mariah. If she asked you to forgive her, would I lose you to her? he wonders.
Billy could use his big brother’s advice – give me a call. What the hell is this about? he then gets a text from Victor. Summoned to the ranch for an urgent matter, he tells Phyllis that Victor might know what’s going on with Phyllis.
Nick ‘turned over a lot of stones’ but got no info. Sharon assumes Matt’s staying away to avoid jail – or death. ~ping~ Nick gets a text from Matt – Sorry I missed you in LA.
I’m a jerk, Daniel’s sorry for putting Tessa on the spot. She’s given Mariah plenty of chances. Broken hearts heal (like yours did after losing Heather) After talking to Cane, Daniel’s feeling guilty about breaking his Mom’s heart. Are you ready to mend it by giving her another chance? (Tessa’s leaning towards ‘yes’)
Phyllis can’t put Billy off for long. Using the lawyer/contract excuse is the same story Cane used. If Billy signs those documents, he has nothing to negotiate with Victor. Give me 24 hours, he requests.
At the ranch, Billy can’t stay – he has a business to run. Chancellor is with its rightful owner. It’ll be back in my hands by the end of the day, Victor’s sure. Not a chance in hell I’ll hand Chancellor back to you. If you don’t, no one in your family will ever see Jack again, Victor warns.
My Thoughts: How could Nick possibly have had time to ‘turn over a lot of stones’ in LA? It’s a 4.5 hour flight, so by my math, that’s 9 hours there and back …. Good grief; Victor ‘kidnapping’ Lily and the kids was such a compelling/believable scheme that he’s repeating it with Jack (who he’s already kidnapped once before) Enough is enough … When has Phyllis had time to fire any employees? Is she hiring replacements? Is she legally allowed to fire people without cause? Ironic that she’s the one giving loyalty tests. Whatever happened to the board? Why hasn’t she held a press conference announcing that she’s now the owner of Newman Enterprises? … Is the Cane-train parked right outside CL’s? And since there’s no locks on the doors, I guess any rando off the street can just come aboard.
