Stephanie tells Malcolm that Lily can’t donate because she had cancer/radiation. She’s not your only option. She has something to tell him that will change everything. Holden comes in. Father and son stare at one another.
After Holden sits down, Stephanie introduces him as a wonderful young man – he’s my son, and yours (Malcolm’s).
Cane wants nothing Phyllis has to offer. It’s stupid for you to be mad at me, she orders him to reconsider his words. Or what? What can you possibly do to me? Cane knows she’s afraid ‘because you know I can build another AI – maybe I’ll give it to Victor so he can come after you’. Phyllis is left to look worried.
Stephanie tells Malcolm that she didn’t tell him because she got a residency in New York – and your career was on the rise. Jerry knew I was pregnant – we talked about telling you but you were starting a life with Olivia. It was selfish, she admits. Then, Jerry died and Stephanie always let something get in the way – I heard you (Malcolm) died. You need my help – what do you need? Holden asks.
Stephanie won’t stop Malcolm and Holden from bonding over being mad at her. Are you sick? Yes, Malcolm needs stem cell treatment. He has a daughter but she’s not an option. So, I have a father and a sister I didn’t know about, Holden’s further shocked.
Cane asks to join Lily. Not now (she’s emotional) You OK? Yes, he does care. You said you hate me and won’t forgive me, Lily mopes. Cane was upset – you look sad. Is Malcolm OK? Talk to me. Yes, she needs someone to talk to but it’s not you. Sorry to bother you, Cane leaves Lily to make a call to see abut being a stem cell donor. While on hold, she notices Phyllis.
Malcolm has no other family; he’s sorry to burden Holden. Stephanie wants them to stay focused – when you’re well we can figure everything else out. Your half sister will be shocked too, he adds that she’s about to find out that she can’t save his life. I have to call Lily. Lily? Yes, Holden has met her.
Yes, Holden knows Lily. We’re acquaintances with complications. Stephanie wants to handle what’s in front of them. Malcolm needs a donor. You’re my best chance if you’re willing to help me out.
By phone, Lily gets the bad news that she can’t be a stem cell donor, even though she’s been in remission for years. As Cane watches her, Phyllis watches Cane leave – and Lily looking utterly devastated
Stephanie stays on point – my son’s biological father is sick – we can talk and argue later. For now, will you (Holden) please see if you’re a match. You might be the only person who can save Malcolm’s life.
My Thoughts: I, for one, am delighted that Holden is Malcolm’s biological son (aka ‘Sexy Chocolate Jr’) Holden’s a decent enough guy (barring one teeny tiny murder) and I’m glad he has ties to one of GC’s founding families… How can Stephanie and Malcolm’s first question not be ‘Son! Did you sleep with your half sister!????’… Kinda ironic that Stephanie/Holden’s story is virtually a repeat of Amy/Damian’s …. I appreciate her direct, no-nonsense approach (even though it’s news she’s delayed for a good 30 years) … Good news for Holden – he might actually get a job now (at Winters Inc)
