After Jack excuses himself to take Diane’s call, Kyle’s supportive. My Dad agrees that we should put this feud behind us. He doesn’t want to see her in pain.

Back at the motel, Marie will leave Nick to it. If you change your mind. …. I won’t, he claims, and is left to scowl at his baggie of pills.

Devon’s going to build a progressive, liberal arts college; a place for unity; open to anyone, regardless of if they afford it or not. Abby thinks it’s a great idea. The best part – the Neil Winters College of Arts and Humanities. Lily hugs her brother – Dad would be so proud.

After Nick flushes his pills down the toilet, Marie returns briefly to get her key card. He sees all the missed calls/texts – they must be worried sick. Dammit – he finds another baggie of pills on the bed (likely left there by Marie)

Still on the patio, Victoria continues to confide in the supportive Kyle. She can’t fall apart; she must be strong for everyone. Kyle holds her as she cries. Pulling apart, it seems they’re about to kiss.

Jack interrupts to invite Kyle and Victoria out to dinner with him and Diane. Both politely decline. Nick will get through this – he’s stronger than he knows, Jack’s sure.

Nick and Marie are laying in bed talking about how nice it feels to be high. Both got hooked on drugs after being in a car accident; both were cut off from pain meds by their doctors; both know they’re never getting out of this.

‘Devon’s back to his old self’, Abby’s proud to say. Devon will still be on the board and has faith that Nate and Lily can run Winters. After they leave, Lily notes that Nate’s been pretty quiet. Yes, Nate worries how this might affect him – but not how you think.

Stopping by Society, Devon asks Abby if she’s really OK with his decision. She is – it brought you back to me ~kiss~

Nate’s been thinking about going back to medicine but now, with Devon leaving, doesn’t feel he can.

Kyle picks up Victoria’s keys. Awkwardly, both speak at the same time. She thanks him for letting her cry on his shoulder. Her phone pings – no, it’s not Nick, it’s Claire. Thanks again, she leaves Kyle to look wistful.

Laying on the bed, Nick was not expecting this. He chuckles. No, he’s not going back to rehab. He and Marie kiss.

My Thoughts: Of course, Nick would hook up with Marie – he IS a white knight always looking for a damsel in distress to rescue. While I’ve long given up on expecting realism when it comes to addressing serious topics, but I DO appreciate TPTB making a point of portraying Marie as someone who ALSO got hooked on street drugs after being cut off from prescribed pain medication. And since I’m feeling kinda serious today, here goes nuthin’ ….

Good. For. You. Devon! I can’t think of a better time, or a better way for a young, Black billionaire to spend his money than building a liberal arts college that’s available to all regardless of income. Hell yeah, Neil would have been proud. And I am too. This old, white lady is a firm believer in Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.
