Sharon’s had her struggles but Nick’s facing something different – she saw the look of shock and worry; he realizes how difficult this fight will be. Nikki speaks from experience ‘you can’t let your guard down’. We have to help him get through it, Victoria suggests a mentor or medication – we have to help him get clean! Nick’s not the same man he was a year ago, Sharon upsets her. Stop! Victoria shouts – he needs our support!
Meeting over, Marie tells Nick that they pumped her stomach and jokes about getting a refund for all the drugs she bought. You look good, Nick compliments; breathing suits you. Marie was going to leave after a meeting but stopped when she saw Nick. She’ll let what he did slide, this time. Smiling, Nick appreciates that.
Billy continues – Katherine inherited the company after Gary passed away. She married Philip Chancellor and gave it to him to manage. The story was that Gary saved the company and paid off all the debts. But this wasn’t a hand out; it was a business deal – and Billy has proof.
Billy found the agreement signed by their Dad. There was a provision that Philip/Chancellor had 20 years to pay the debt off – if they didn’t, John or his heirs own Chancellor outright. Philip died in 1975! Jill knows and didn’t want me to find out. My mother would rather I felt useless than tell me the truth!
Only Nick can get himself clean, Nikki talks Victoria off the ledge. She wishes she could see for herself how he’s doing. Sharon told Nick that their love is unconditional. Nikki prays he finds the strength.
The meeting over, Marie shows Nick how she likes her coffee (with a LOT of sugar) How bad did I freak you out last night? Did something happen? Nick jokes – then admits that he’s been on the other side of an OD. Marie isn’t there for the coffee – what happened last night mattered. I’m here – take the win, cowboy.
Now alone, Nikki and Victor agonize over Nick – this isn’t the honeymoon they envisioned. Knowing all about relapsing, Nikki’s scared for Nick – nobody can do this for him,.
As Marie finishes her coffee (for the sugar rush) Nick jokes – does your dentist know? Will you check into the program now that you’re one day clean? Neither will forget last night. After some more banter, Marie jokes ‘you’re obsessed with me’ as she leaves.
Why would a decades old agreement mean anything now? Jack and Kyle don’t get it. Billy clarifies – the debt wasn’t paid off. We own Chancellor Industries; the whole thing.
