Nick sits at Marie’s bedside. I’m so sorry, he says as she sleeps.
Back at the club, Phyllis denies she’s naive – I can deal with Victor. Why are you falling for this? Cane wonders. He wants you to think he respects you. He does, Phyllis insists. No, he doesn’t; he’ll figure out a way to take you down, Cane warns. Phyllis wonders when he lost his edge and became so afraid?. Both turn to watch Victor smile and raise a glass in their direction.
Lily and Devon tease the truth out of Stephanie. You’re a good influence on Nate. It’s not some big romance, Stephanie downplays it. You’re both happy – that’s all that matters, Lily wonders if Holden knows. That’s a little trickier, Stephanie admits.
Nick talks to Marie about how much she means to him – the mistakes he’s made – meeting at the motel – then rehab; your husband. I shouldn’t have left you alone with him. Why’d you lie to me about going to family back East? Joe will never deal drugs to anyone in this town again. I made sure of that.
Holden picked up on a vibe too – but, Stephanie told him they were just friends. Lily’s been accepting but the cousins, not so much. She didn’t date anyone long enough to introduce them to Holden. Lily offers to reach out to him. Nate returns to say that he’s never felt better. As Stephanie takes his hand, Lily and Devon smile.
Cane thinks Phyllis is too desperate for a pat on the back from Victor. He doesn’t need a reason to come after you. Phyllis always watches her back. If Victor tries to take me down, I’ve got this – trust me. I have eyes in the back of my head.
Matt slowly gets out of the car, looks around and scowls.
Sharon and Nikki continue to discuss Nick. Joe’s missing. He might not be using but he’s ‘white knuckling’ it; he refused to go to a meeting. He seemed closed off, Sharon agrees. Both are worried.
On the patio, Nick again flashes back to knocking Joe out and removes the baggies of drugs from his pocket and looks conflicted.
