Audra’s gloating about something – Claire thinks maybe she got a job. If it was in the cosmetics industry, Kyle would have heard about it.
On the other side of the jazz lounge, Nate thinks Audra teasing Kyle may have lost her the element of surprise. Naw, she just gave him a sneak preview of what’s to come.
When Victor comes home from his dinner with Mike, Nikki would like to hear all about it. Victor correctly guesses she wants to know his plan to ‘bring Jack to his knees’.
Joining Jack at the club’s bar, Diane can see that he’s in a good mood. No secrets, she reminds. Now, what put that smile on your face?
You know how I feel about your war against Jack, Nikki scolds Victor for punishing both of them. You weren’t there that night! I haven’t drank since – who gets credit for that?? she challenges.
Giving Kyle full credit, Jack tells Diane that Victor planted a spy at Jabot. Our son impressed the hell out of me; he ‘turned’ the guy. It was masterful. Victor’s no longer a threat to Kyle, Jack’s sure.
It did feel good to rub Kyle’s nose in my success, Audra admits. Yes, she knows Victor was also responsible for her downfall – but Kyle thinks he’s won. He has no idea how big a mistake he made crossing me.
Kyle and Claire stare across the room at Audra. You two had a thing, Claire’s not jealous but maybe she has residual feelings. You convinced my grandfather to fire her, she adds. Kyle gets snippy – let’s talk about something else.
Diane’s happy that Kyle’s turned on Victor – but how did he plant a spy at Jabot? What if there’s more? She suggests they go as hard at Victor as he does at them – how would he feel if we tried to burn his company to the ground?
Jack saved my life – but Nikki moves on to another topic of contention; Victor’s opposition to Claire’s relationship with Kyle. It’s puppy love – it’s not serious yet, Victor sputters. I wouldn’t be so sure of that, Nikki says knowingly.
When Claire moves to a chair across from him, Kyle apologizes for snapping at her. He doesn’t want to relive the long, painful memory of Glacade. After almost losing his family, Kyle would like to forget the whole ‘debacle’. It doesn’t look like Audra’s going to let you, Claire warns.
You’re a buzzkill, Audra whines that Nate makes it sound like she’s walking into a lions den. You are – and Victor’s king of the jungle. He can tell that she has doubts. Nope – and if you can’t toast to my future, I’ll do it myself – here’s to me. Nate clinks her glass – I’ll drink to that.
Though Diane would like to take the game to Victor for once, Jack doesn’t want to stoop to his level. The most important thing is not letting him know we’re on to him. Mike’s acting as his fixer now; paying the spy and giving him Victor’s marching orders. ‘What a snake’, Diane’s disappointed in Mike. Jack doubts he had a choice – and is more worried that things with Victor will escalate if Kyle and Claire move in together.
