Now night time, are where else would one go to try get cell reception but the maze? Oh, oh! Civilization! a relieved Phyllis leaps into Nick’s arms. He Welcomes her to the most exclusive, extravagant and bizarre party in the world. There’s no reception anywhere on the property, he announces.
Come ON – give me something – a frustrated Kyle’s also wandering around in the maze, holding his phone to the heavens in hopes of getting a signal. When he bumps into Audra (literally) she wonders if he’s lost – or did you follow me?
Devon, Lily and Damian are on the ‘fancy ride’. Damian didn’t know Dumas was this ‘extra’, but no, he didn’t know about this place – I was on a need to know basis.
Jack and Diane grumble about the maze and having to spend lunch, cocktail hour and dinner with people they don’t like – and Dumas didn’t even show up (because he’s busy watching his guests remotely from the comfort of his dimly lit office)
Victor and Nikki aren’t pleased either, Diane informs that they’ve retired to their sleeping car. We’re in Nice, together and the weather’s perfect, she cajoles Jack. The food’s delicious, he concedes. Cocktail hour starts soon and it’s our honeymoon after all. I love you Mr Abbott. I love you Mrs Abbot.
Who are you trying to reach, Audra asks Kyle. He’s trying to call Claire to check on her father. Audra hopes Cole will be oK – of course she means it – I’m not a monster. She’s trying to contact Nate and send photos to her friend who has cancer. Kyle’s never seen this kind and compassionate side to Audra. Debating whose perfume’s better, Kyle wants a whiff. Are you saying you’ll show me yours if I show you mine? she asks playfully.
Where is everyone? Phyllis wonders – playing paintball or laser tag? We’re on a break until cocktail hour, Nick agrees that Dumas is a terrible host; he won’t be here til tomorrow. Everyone’s getting antsy. Where’s Sharon? She’s around here somewhere, Nick congratulates Phyllis on scoring an invite but questions her motives. She’s there to acquire her own luxury train and chateau.
Truffles and champagne in hand, Lily looks out the window. What’s wrong? Devon asks. She’s felt unsettled since setting foot on the train.
The train chugging along, Devon suggests that Lily’s just tired and jet-lagged. We’re almost at the top of this mountain, Damian announces as he pours himself another glass of champagne. After the train comes to an abrupt stop, Carter boards to introduce himself. I’m aware of who you are, he’s brisk – where’s Abby? Our son got sick, Devon explains that she’ll be flying in later. Dumas will be here tomorrow – cocktails el fresco will begin shortly. Your bags have been unpacked in your sleeping cars. I’ll escort you to the garden and you can find your way to cocktails. Lily laughs – what? Is it a maze? Follow me, Carter will show them to their rooms. This just gets weirder and weirder, Devon comments as they file out behind Carter.
This is a life-size maze – like a human board game, Phyllis starts to hyperventilate – we’re being played with. You’re not trapped in the clinic, Nick tries to calm her down. You’re good – you can manage this, right? Yes, Phyllis will stick around – in hopes she can relaunch her career. Nick’s very proud of her – look at everything you’ve been through – you always find a way through it. Phyllis is glad he’s there with her ~hug~ Getting an eyeful, Sharon darts behind a hedge to react unseen.
