On the train, the Newman foursome complain about being stuck there due to the road and tracks being washed out. With no cell signal, Victor can’t even summon a helicopter. He’s sure Cane has a plan to come after Chancellor.

Victor doubts Cane’s plan involves Billy Boy Abbott (who’s just there for the free booze) Lily? Nick and Sharon doubt it – she seemed genuinely shocked and ‘disgusted’. Cane’s a professional con man like his father, Nikki worries he might charm Lily into ‘doing his bidding’.

On lounge chairs by the pool, Damian’s making Lily laugh when Cane joins them. Seems you’re both making the best of it (being stuck here) What are the odds of me hiring Nate’s half-brother? Who’s made friends with my ex-wife? How do you know we’re just friends? Lily stares him down.

It’s none of your business (whether she and Damian are more than friends) Lily already made it clear she wants nothing to do with Cane. When he asks for five minutes of privacy, Damian gets the OK from Lily – I’ll be right over there if you need me, he heads to the pool. Your five minutes starts now, Lily snaps at Cane – don’t make me regret this.

Victor knows Jack and Diane would be happy to help Cane bring him down. They can’t swoop in and take a privately owned company, but Nikki would feel less anxious if they were home. Phyllis interrupts – hear the good news? We’re stuck in paradise. Why is everyone so gloomy?

Cane wishes he could undo the past – he wants Lily to change the path she’s on. What path? The one without me, he’s serious. In time he hopes she’ll see that his intentions were ‘pure’. Lily hasn’t forgotten what he did to her and their family. Cane warns her not to trust Damian; he’ll hurt you.

Nick correctly guesses that Phyllis is on cloud nine because she talked to Cane about her future. What are you up to? Why would YOUR future have anything to do with Cane Ashby? Nikki asks what Victor’s thinking.

If Damian’s so untrustworthy, why did you hire him, sight unseen, to run your companies? Lily points out the hypocrisy when Cane claims that Damian’s not to be trusted because he lied about who he is. Cane fired him because he was going to spy for Lily. He always intended to come home to her (and still does) You’re not the man I knew and loved, she doesn’t think he even knows himself.

Phyllis walked away from Billy’s “venture” for greener pastures. You (Victor) weren’t going to hire me but Cane thinks I’d be an exciting addition to his empire, Phyllis lies. He told my Dad that he plans to sell his companies, Nick wonders where that leaves Phyllis (who again claims that Cane’s excited to work with her) Calling BS, Victor smirks at the notion that he’s intimidated by Cane and that he’ll be a powerful force in GC (with Phyllis ‘by his side’)

Cane tries to woo Lily by reciting a snippet from their vows – I’ll be your soft place to fall. I’ve never stopped loving you, he concludes. That’s sad, because Lily stopped loving him. It’s OVER – that will NEVER change! When Damian returns to say that Cane’s five minutes is up, Lily plants a kiss on him. After Cane leaves, Damian says the kiss was nice but for Cane’s benefit, right?
