At Society, Kyle’s announcement doesn’t go over well with his parents – why don’t you want me to marry Claire?

With her grandmother (at the ranch) Claire lists all the tasks she needs to do for her boss. When Nikki suspects she’s avoiding her problems by diving into work (like her Mother always does) Claire doesn’t know how she can process Kyle breaking her trust.

Here we go, Cane sighs when Phyllis stomps onto his train demanding to know why he’s killing the plan. Makes it make sense! When Cane explains that his focus needs to be his family right now, Phyllis pounces on the last two words Ohhh – right now – it’s just on hold, she’s relieved.

Acknowledging that Kyle made a terrible mistake, Nikki understands why he didn’t tell Claire. Yes, Claire loves Kyle – yes, he loves her. Then, take your time, Nikki advises.

Jack and Diane don’t have a problem with Kyle marrying Claire, just not the timing – it could come off as manipulative. Would you be making this move if Claire didn’t find out about you kissing Audra? Jack makes his point.

Confident that Cane’s kids will come around (like hers did) Phyllis poo-poos the idea of sitting on his hands until that happens – move forward. Deception for profit is what put Cane in this position – he won’t risk losing the twins forever.

Nikki has a lot of experience – she and Victor have endured a million conflicts – but she knows his heart and that’s what matters. Kyle’s a good man, Claire will give it some thought. Now, what is Nikki’s good news?

Kyle loves Claire; I should have proposed to her already. Jack will take him to the family jeweller ‘next week’ to pick out a ring. Kyle already made an appointment with her. He floats out on cloud nine as Billy arrives (to talk to Jack about Cane)

Cane’s sorry he let Phyllis down. It IS final. Understand it and move on. She CAN’T and won’t let the rug be pulled out from under her again. Cane will make some calls. No, no, no – Phyllis wants and deserves THIS job. Hand me your secret weapon (the plan) and I’ll conquer the world.

Deemed an excellent executive assistant, Nikki believes it’s time for Claire to climb the corporate ladder. Victor and I have decided to fold Newman Publishing into Chancellor. Claire will start in a junior position but will one day run the division.

Having chosen a ring, Kyle thanks the jeweller for coming by and is left full of hope.

Billy doesn’t trust Cane either, he tells Jack and Diane that he’s flipped the script; it’s a whole new ball-game.

Phyllis will get her hands dirty; Cane can keep his hands clean. Let me run the behemoth while you spend time with your kids. Then, you can come back as the king and I’ll be right there. Tell me our plan – let me in.

Claire loves the idea of following in her father’s footsteps; he had a deep respect for the craft. Your grandfather has a lot of faith in you, Nikki adds. Yes, Claire happily accepts the job.

Maybe Cane came to his senses and realized he couldn’t take over every business in GC, Diane hopes. Apparently, he’s going to focus on his kids. Billy doesn’t believe him and has no shot at getting in on the inside.
