Phyllis isn’t confirming that she stole Cane’s AI program – but, if the Abbotts got the software, what would they do with it? Destroy it so it can’t be used against anyone else, Billy answers. If Jabot fails, you get nothing from Victor, and nothing from us. I’ll hear from you soon, he bids Daniel ‘good morning’ on his way out.
Phyllis isn’t a planner, she reacts impulsively, then tries to put the pieces back together after it all goes to hell, Diane doubts Phyllis will want money – she wants attention and power. I know this woman – she’ll blow herself up to stay in the spotlight. When her phone pings, Diane reads the message – I think I just discovered another way to stop Victor.
Phyllis accuses Daniel of being snarky, a broken record. He accuses her of being ‘squirel-ly’ and knows she’s involved in whatever’s going on at Jabot. I don’t like you right now, Phyllis sulks. Daniel doesn’t like being suspicious of his own mother but can’t ignore his gut. Stay out of whatever’s going on between the Newmans and Abbotts. Phyllis swears she’s not keeping any secrets from him.
This is our job, we work in media, Adam reminds Chelsea. Yes, but we knew the real story and chose not to publish it. Adam knows she hates it – he hates it too. He agreed not to go after Billy – but can’t always say no to Victor. We can’t always be the nice guys. This is our friend, Chelsea fears that Jack’s business may never recover from what WE did to him, she’s in tears. At what point have we gone too far? She’s close to that point – aren’t you??
At the house, Billy updates Kyle and Diane that Phyllis is thinking about it. He told her to name her price. Victor would have anticipated that move and probably has the software protected. Diane does indeed have another idea. Barging in on cue, Jack would love to hear it. Victor will NOT win, he vows.
Is it still possible to protect Jack? Chelsea worries Victor will always be calling the shots. What about being a good example for our son? Jack’s right; people will lose their livelihoods? Careers will be ruined; families will be torn apart. Let’s not kid ourselves – we don’t run anything. Yes, she’s thinking about leaving – she doesn’t want Victor to own their souls.
Jack relays his run-in with Adam and Chelsea. Phyllis? She’s thinking about it. Victor’s stringing her along – she’s desperate, Billy reports. Jack would love to hear Diane’s plan.
Wondering when Mariah will return to her wife and child, Phyllis saw Daniel kissing Tessa. Daniel’s well aware that she’s married. You’re joined at the hip, Phyllis worries he’ll get his heart broken. Daniel won’t let his Mom change the subject. You’re in trouble. Tell me you didn’t steal the software, then give it to Victor for some sort of promise. Who told you that!? Phyllis blurts out.
Chelsea worries about the values they’re inflicting on Connor; exploiting Jabot feels ‘dirty’. You’d leave Newman Media? Adam’s alarmed. Something has to be done – Chelsea doesn’t want to be ashamed of what she does for a living. We need to protect what we’ve created – the three of us – to be parents Connor can be proud of – isn’t that important to you too? she appeals to Adam.
Daniel’s heard some things – he and Summer spoke last night – we think you stole the AI software and sold it to Victor – who’s using it to attack Jabot. If that’s true, you need to figure out a way to get out of it. Phyllis appreciates the concern but insists she’s fine. The circumstances are working in her favour – I’m going to win. This will bring our family together once and for all, she believes.
While everyone else is on defence, Diane’s been going on the offensive – Victor has something to lose too – what he’s doing is illegal and could lead to prison time. No, she doesn’t have proof yet, but knows where she can find it.
