Patty was hoping for more enthusiasm. Jack just needs time to adjust. Patty’s a patient woman; she understands. Let’s get to know each other again; an old-fashioned courtship. Focus on me, on us (not Diane)
Because Diane’s ranting was mostly directed at her husband, the doctor worries that hearing Jack’s voice might be triggering. I’m perfectly sane! Diane doesn’t remember anything because she was drugged. You’re lying through your teeth!
Having made a vow to protect Diane in sickness and in health, Jack wants to talk to Dr Markham. Patty claims that it’s not her doctor who’s treating Diane – that would be a conflict of interest. No harm will come to her, Patty will keep her word. This will be beyond your expectations, she mauls Jack – you’ll see.
What’s SHE doing here?! Kyle sputters – ‘what the hell’s going on’?! Patty claims that she and Jack have a future together. ‘Your Mother’s left us for good’, so Jack’s moving on with his life. What the hell have you done with my Mother!? Kyle hisses at Patty.
There’s no shame in having a psychotic break, the doctor assures Diane that she’ll get help at the clinic. Are you even a real doctor? she asks. If talk-therapy doesn’t work, he has other ways (which terrifies Diane)
This needs to end NOW – has that psycho drugged you again!? Kyle’s alarmed. No, Jack repeats that he’s moving on with his life. We’re going out for cocktails, he leads Patty to the door. Enjoy the rest of your evening, she grins at Kyle.
‘You need to eat’, the doctor pops a cherry tomato into his mouth. If Diane won’t eat willingly, he’ll come up with another way to make sure she’s nourished. Fine, Diane reluctantly nibbles at some veggies.
