Diane feels like they made a lot of progress in their first session. You’re a gifted psychiatrist – do you think we’ll need a lot more sessions? Markham sees a shift in her attitude – you trust me (you didn’t jump up when I walked in) Diane does feel safe – you want me to get better. She needs more time to decide whether she’s ready to give up on her marriage (and asks for sleeping pills)
When the doctor comes in, Nikki describes the pain behind her eyes – her vision’s blurry and getting darker. The doctor decides the tumour needs to be removed asap. They don’t have a surgeon on staff with experience – we need to look outside of GC. My Mom needs the best surgeon there is – fast, Victoria steps outside.
Mom could go blind? Nick’s stunned. Victor left a message for Nate, hoping for insight. She needs to have surgery asap but there’s no one on staff who’s qualified. Go, be with your Mom – Victor will find a surgeon.
Jack won’t let Billy help with this – you’re on a new path with Sally and the baby. Thanks for stopping by. Be careful, Billy says on his way out. Patty sashays downstairs – hope you weren’t doing anything naughty while I was out.
When did you get back? Jack asks. Just now – did you miss me? Patty mauls Jack. She’s going to do a fashion show for him later. What were you talking about? Diane. Patty wishes he’d put that woman out of his mind. If she doesn’t have a shot, Patty thinks Diane may need to be collateral damage.
Diane can’t go on like this – she needs to sleep. She’s had insomnia since catching Jack with Patty and has nightmares that she’s moved in with Jack and taken her place. Diane NEEDS sleeping meds.
On the phone with Nate, Victor asks about Virginia Nottingham. She has a good reputation. At Society with Stephanie, he passes the phone to her. Victor relays that his wife is in desperate need of a surgeon.
Nick finds Victoria in their Mom’s room. She’s been taken for more tests. When Victoria sobs in his arms, Nick wonders how much more the family take.
Everything happened so quickly, Victoria didn’t want to add to what Nick’s already dealing with. The plan is to try to remove as much of the mass as possible to save Mom’s vision and shrink what’s left with radiation. It’s a high risk surgery. There’s no one on staff who can do it. Dad’s on it, Nick reassures his terrified sister.
Stephanie tells Victor that Dr Nottingham is a brilliant surgeon and good friend. I’ll call her now. Wow, the most influential man in GC is expecting a miracle from me, she muses. Nate’s seen the MRI – it will take a miracle.
