Victor would like to go, unless Nikki’s changed her mind. Of course he wants to go, the kids say in stereo. I’ll drive, Nikki jokes.
Nick’s not jealous – he’s a white knight who likes to save people. Thinking there’s unresolved feelings, Matt won’t give Nick another reason to hate him. Ok, go then – but Phyllis would be disappointed that he’s giving up on something that could change his life. Yes, she’ll buy Matt breakfast. Also, I don’t take no for an answer.
Told that Markham was friends with Alan, Traci tells Martin that he kidnapped Diane. She’s safe now but Markham’s in hiding. Perhaps your family should avoid psychiatrists, Martin quips. You’re not a psychiatrist, Traci reminds and if you are sorry for what you did to me, this is how you pay me back.
Alone in the doctor’s office, Nikki’s told that what happens after the bandages come off might not indicate what to expect going forward. It’s possible the optic nerve hasn’t healed – it may take time. Nikki’s allowed to have one person in with her (the office is small)
At Society, Phyllis is thinking of ways to keep Matt in town. If he stays and Victor let’s him off the hook, ‘how do I build a future here’?
Martin knew instantly that Markham was a sociopath with narcissistic tendencies. Traci bites her tongue. Martin’s read Larry’s work – he’s as empty headed and vain as Alan was. There was a summer house they stayed at – but first, Martin has a favour to ask.
Martin wants Traci to come see him – so he can look into the eyes of the woman he loves, to beg for forgiveness. He can help her keep her family safe – just say yes. Traci agrees and quickly closes the laptop as Martin blathers on.
We have parks, lakes, nightlife, we’re friendly people, Phyllis persists. How many friends do you have? Matt quips – he would need money, a job. Phyllis pulls out her tablet – what are you good at? Terrorizing people, all the illegal things. References? Phyllis understands what it’s like to be hated – there’s light at the end of the tunnel. You make things seem possible, Matt opines. Victor gave me a shell of a company as a joke; Phyllis will turn it into something great. That’s where you come in.
When the doctor returns with Victor, Nikki thanks him for coming in. I’m right here, Victor puts his hand on Nikki’s shoulder. She reaches up to hold his hands as the doctor gently removes the bandages. Open your eyes. No, no it’s all black – there’s nothing, Nikki bursts into tears.
