Nikki heard about the engagement party from Faith and is happy to hear that Mariah and Tessa plan to adopt. She looks forward to being able to call Sharon ‘granny’. Nick grows quiet as he thinks about Cassie. Nikki grows quiet as she thinks about how much space Newman Enterprises takes in Victor’s head and heart.

Sally won’t spend her life apologizing for her past actions. She’s sorry people got hurt but Summer landed on both feet. People will sit up and take notice of me, you’ll see, she vows. When Victor needs to talk to Adam alone, Sally leaves Adam to hope his Father’s satisfied; Sally’s the right choice for COO. Victor’s dissatisfied that Adam didn’t consult him. You don’t trust my judgment, Adam suggests Newman Media’s next scoop should be the resignation of its CEO.

Back at Newman, Vikki and Ashland plot to get rid of Adam – we’ll make damn sure he screws up; give him enough rope to hang himself.

Victor trusts Adam, it’s Ashland he doesn’t trust (which makes Adam smile)

Still at the ranch, Nick loves Noah working with him at New Hope but would support him doing anything that makes him happy. Dad always had you, the love of his life, for balance, he adds.

Noting some inconsistencies regarding Ashland’s cancer treatment, Victor wants Adam to look for any other inconsistencies – report to me. Adam being kept on a short leash will make that easier. You want me to spy? Adam wonders if his Father’s testing his loyalty – whether he’ll betray his sister. Do as I say, Victor’s firm.

Is it safe? Sally returns to Adam’s office wondering if she’s still Newman Media’s COO. Yes, and Adam feels his Father was impressed (as was he) Sally admits that she was shaking inside.

Not every relationship is meant to last forever, Nikki admits that she’s not unhappy that some of Nick’s didn’t. He’s in a good place now. Returning home, Victor’s delighted to see Nick – what a nice surprise. Nick has to wonder if Vikki and Adam working together is a good idea.

Though assuming them undermining Victor’s son won’t go over well, Ashland will throw Sally out after him then run Newman Media himself – he takes a strong hand over everything he controls; words that stun Vikki.

Declining a job at Newman, Nick expresses his concern about Vikki being hurt. Not denying there’s a larger play in the works, Victor smirks.

Adam assures Sally that Victor won’t work to oust her behind his back – he has bigger things to contend with. Good or bad? she asks. Interesting, Adam responds cryptically.

Vikki reminds Ashland that it’s not his company, it’s ours. Ashland apologizes and rephrases – we’re in this together 100%. And he’s also sorry he wasn’t upfront about his financial investment in the clinic in Peru. Don’t let your Father sew seeds of distrust. Adam’s the one we can’t trust. Excusing himself to take a call, Ashland leaves Vikki looking grim.
