Victor scowls at Mike – am I not keeping you busy enough? The Newmans move along to their own table when Jack arrives to guilt-trip Mike. Diane’s future is in your hands.

Chris thinks it worth a try for Chance to have a talk with Stark – but what are we missing? Phyllis left him half her money. Taking a call, Chance updates Chris that Stark checked out of TGP as soon as Phyllis’ money went into his account. No one knows where the hell he is.

Kyle goes over the whole Stark/Diane storyline for Ally. If he wanted to get back at Diane, why didn’t he just kill her? All wonders. He’d rather watch my Mom be miserable. She doesn’t even have an attorney, Kyle pouts.

Mike can’t take Diane’s case. Phyllis would haunt him til the day he died and Lauren would be worse. Mike looks over his shoulder to see Victor staring at him (At their table, Victor assures Nikki that Mike’s a smart man; he’ll do the right thing) Mike turns back to Jack – I work for Victor, he states the obvious. Jack persists – can you really stand by and watch Diane go to prison – the real murderer going free? Diane needs you!

Jack won’t take no for an answer. Without Mike, all is lost.

Exchanging a few words with Noah (and Summer) Sharon then chats with Chance. Phyllis really was a good Mother. At least Summer has her brothers, he replies.

On the patio, Summer holds Noah’s hands across the table. Longing for her Mom’s forgiveness, Summer will have to miss her like this for the rest of her life.

Jack now gone, Mike stops by the Newmans’ table. Again asserting confidence that he’ll do the right thing, Victor doesn’t even bother to look up from his menu when casually threatening to fire Mike. As such, he doesn’t see the disdain etched across Mike’s face when he politely tells them to ‘Have a good meal’.

Jack ends his call with Kyle and Ally as soon as Mike exits Society. So? Did you find us a defense attorney? he asks. About that, we need to talk, Mike frowns.

After Victor leaves, Milton the accountant (a second cameo appearance by Mo Rocca) sidles up behind Nikki to utter ‘simply captivating’. Now divorced, he believes this is their time. Let’s get matching motorcycles and play guitars around bonfires. Nikki lets Milton down gently – I don’t play guitar. He’s in awe as he watches his ‘Golden Goddess’ sashay away.

Noah wonders why Summer held the service so quickly. She can’t explain her reasons. When she starts on about ‘Kyle’s refusal to …’ Noah points out that ‘we don’t know that yet’. He’s worried about her. I love you so much, she gives him a hug, then heads off to Diane’s arraignment. When Kyle gets to the patio seconds later, Noah warns him that whether or not Diane killed Phyllis, she IS the trigger – Summer won’t forget that.

In the visiting room, Diane’s ecstatic to hear that Mike will represent her. Don’t celebrate yet – he and Lauren miss the best friend they’ve just lost. He didn’t take this case lightly and requires one thing of Diane – the truth, at all times. Giving her word, Diane doesn’t know what changed Mike’s mind but is glad he did. She now believes she has a chance of coming home.

Chance tells Sharon that he will indeed look into Stark. Him taking off is a parole violation. Why would he risk going back to prison and miss his wife’s murder trial? Sharon’s fascinated to hear Chance talking out loud (which Rey never did) Chance didn’t talk about his cases to Abby either. He trusts Sharon – it’s weird – nice weird. Sharon turns up the flirt-o-meter. She was a troublemaker, now she’s a brownie maker. You’re a lot more than that, Chance flirts back.

Mike, Jack and Kyle are back at the house to fume about Diane not getting bail. She’s a danger to no one! The Judge agrees with Chris that Diane’s a flight risk. Jack will do whatever’s necessary to prove Diane’s innocence and bring her home.

Diane’s surprised when Summer visits her. You’re probably terrified – you don’t know what’s gonna happen next. I’ll tell you. You’ll be found guilty. Summer then lists everything Diane will miss – the grandchildren you won’t get to hold – the wedding to Jack that won’t happen – the family photos you won’t be in. Don’t worry about Kyle – he’s lived half his life without you. We’re all gonna be fine. We’ll move on while you’re stuck here. Then, then you will get exactly what you deserve for ripping my Mother out of our lives! Diane does not say a word in response as Summer abruptly leaves.
