An exhausted Sharon nods off on the patio. She dreams that Summer runs into Chance’s arms then asks her if she’s ready to go.
Ready to go where? Sharon’s baffled. Out to celebrate you finalizing the deal between Kirsten Inc. and Chancellor Winters of course, Summer and Chance exit laughing. When the trio meet up with Billy at the club, a perplexed Sharon wonders if she’s dreaming.
Surprised to hear that Chance is now dating Summer, Sharon’s encouraged not to let Nick slip away again. But, down in the jazz lounge, she’s on the outside looking in. Phyllis purrs in Nick’s ear – you’ll never love Sharon the way she loves you.
Back upstairs, Sharon’s again an outsider; this time with Mariah and Tessa.
As Tessa floats away singing, Sharon denies that her heart’s empty. She lost Rey and let Chance go to find his happiness. Now, Adam joins the party to tell Sharon that she can follow or lead. As Tessa sings, Billy sends Sharon through the revolving door (Christ on Toast, I’d rather be watching Kevin burn Gina’s down)
Billy’s brought Sharon back to CL’s to remind her that Nick cheated on her with Phyllis – again – the truth coming out when he and Sharon were about to say ‘I do’. And ‘end scene’. After the foursome bow to canned applause, Sharon’s left to have a heart to heart with Nick.
Hearing the echoes of everyone laughing at her, Sharon’s back in the jazz lounge to accuse Summer of trying to push her towards Nick so she can have Chance. Tessa sings as Phyllis dances with Billy and Summer with Chance.
Sharon’s stunned to find everyone paired off. Is it supposed to be you and me? she asks Nick – is that what all this is about? Chance then comes to wake her up for real this time. He is looking to fall in love – and can see himself doing that with Sharon.
Sharon’s not looking for anything intense – love isn’t on her mind. She has other priorities. He thinks she’s afraid of being hurt. She doesn’t think she can be the woman of Chance’s dreams.
Nick finds Summer moping over a drink at the club. Why didn’t you and Mom work out? Personality, values – wanting different things, he explains. And Sally? And Sharon? Finally, an easy one – I broke her heart.
Chance sees a future with Sharon. She can’t see one with him. Releasing his hand, she tells him there’s more out there – for both of us. You deserve a woman who loves you with her whole heart. Her tender kiss confirms that she’s is indeed breaking up with Chance.
