Paul lists the evidence he doesn’t have; Avery can’t give a positive ID – there are no witnesses – we can’t even find anyone who heard anything. He covered her mouth, Dylan reminds. Paul’s checking out registered sex offenders for alibi’s. What about Joe’s alibi? Dylan’s stubborn. Paul then drops the bomb – the lab results are in and nothing ties Joe, or anyone else to this. There was no hair, no bodily fluids etc. Dylan repeats – it was Joe! Stat out of this and let me do my job! Paul demands in parting.
Meanwhile, Avery assures Lily that Paul promised to keep the info confidential. Lily sure hopes so.
Mike’s not at the station; working on Victor’s bail. Producing the gun used could be considered a show of good faith. Victor directs him to a hiding place in the stables – thanks for taking my case. Mike will do his best for Victor. Passing Mike, Nick now joins Victor – he has a question and wants to see the look in his Father’s eye when he does so. How could you shoot Jack?
Vikki and Abby join the meeting and are updated that Neil quit. Adam has a new chain of command; Abby will like it. As Vikki snarls that she can’t be replaced as COO because she’s a Newman, Adam assigns the job to another Newman; Abby.
Sharon still aiming her mace at Joe, she thinks HE’s desparate (not Avery) She’d never go to these lengths to get Dylan back. But who did she call all the time? Joe implores – and when he told her to call the police, she stepped it up and accused me of rape. I gotta go, Sharon warns Joe to stay back. Talk to Dylan – if anyone can see through her lies, he can. Hopefully he has enough integrity not to let an innocent man go to prison.

Ashley, Billy and Viiki don’t approve of Abby’s promotion. They’re too polite to say I’m not qualified, Abby chimes in. But as a Newman and an Abbott, she IS, Adam feels she won’t favour one family over the other. Jack would agree, and he won’t trust Vikki (who gave Victor a fake alibi) Abby then corrects Vikki’s assumption and surprises all – maybe she DOES want to take the job.
Victor looks Nick in the eye – when he pulled the trigger, it was in self defense. Nick wished he could take everything his Dad says at face value – like Vik does. Victor worries it may be too late for all of us. I need your help. I know you don’t give a damn about this business, but we may lose it. Victor asks Nick to come back to work to keep an eye on things.
Neil shows up at Nikki’s suite in need of a friend. Nikki’s stunned to hear that Neil quit and that Victor made Gabe CEO. Neil looks into Nikki’s eyes – you’re drunk aren’t you? Nikki’s not drunk – she’s relaxed (and pulls a bottle out from behind cushions)
Lily flashes back to being with Joe – then Avery’s claim that he raped her. On cue, Joe takes a seat at the bar. You disgust me! Lily snarls. Avery’s NOT lying and she’s not the only person affected. Paul knows we slept together. And you’re worried I’ll tell Cane, Joe sighs. Will you? Lily asks.
Getting a text from Dylan, Avery comes to CL’s, and is devastated when he tells her that the lab results were inconclusive so far. He’s gonna get away with this, she tears up.
Vikki loves Abby – you’re good at marketing, but you can’t seriously be thinking of taking my job. After Abby leaves to think about it, Ashley follows (telling Adam he won’t be happy till he destroys everything) Vikki’s left to warn Adam not to get too comfy behind that desk – one of us will be back in charge soon. That leaves Billy and Adam to exchange words. This is what you chose over me? he wishes Chelsea good luck with that and marches out.
Now alone, Adam explains why he fired Neil, and admitting he may have dabbled in blackmail, is only doing so for Jack’s sake (and to avenge his shooting) Adam needs Chelsea to help Abby – just trust me. That’d be a big mistake, Nick appears to say.
Nikki hangs on to the bottle for dear life – I need this! My son Nick is about to have a baby with a woman he just met – Dylan’s having a baby with a woman I wish we never met. Vikki got caught lying to the police (for her Father) Under those circumstances, Nikki’s shown restraint. This bottle is magic – look – take a sip (like this) and all your problems go away. As Neil wrestles her for the bottle, Nikki collapses in his arms on the sofa.
Catching up with Abby at the club, Ashley points out that she has no experience running a huge corporation. Abby will learn the ropes and be a force to be reckoned with. This is her chance to save her both families.
You better keep your word, Lily’s sure it won’t go any further than Paul. Don’t put your life in Avery’s hands, Joe warns – you’ll regret it.
