Going up against Newman Media calls for drastic measures, Billy insists. Blackmail isn’t our only option and your plan includes trusting a man who can’t be trusted, Lily reminds that Gaines escaped in Tuscany. He wants to take down Victor and Adam too. That might be your goal but it’s not mine!
Adam’s given Nikki many reasons to doubt him but he’s sincere and trying like hell to stay on the high road. Nikki hopes for the best but has heard things that give her pause. You and Victor are plotting. Adam’s frustrated – always having to defend every move he makes.
Vikki might relish in an ‘I told you so moment’ with regards to Phyllis and she’ll try to forgive Nick. We need to be able to depend on each other – pull together when things get difficult. How can I regain your trust? Nick asks. Talk to me about what’s going on with Phyllis. It’s over. You probably think it’s for the best, right? Vikki feels it was petty of her to go after Phyllis’ little business. Life is a gift; a gift not to be squandered. Vikki’s relationship with Ashland has changed her perspective on a lot of things. Phyllis might be the only person who can make you happy.
Back at CL’s, Amanda suggests a girls trip – Vegas – mani-pedis – movies. When Mike calls, Phyllis shouts out a hello and insists she’s fine – she’s going to bed because she’s tired, not depressed. She has only herself to blame for the breakup with Nick.
Adam joins Nick and Vikki at Society – hope I’m not interrupting. I come in peace these days, remember? I guess my invitation to the sibling reunion got lost in the mail, he quips. Nick has no sympathy for Adam – you and Dad are thick as thieves. ‘Enjoy your evening’, Adam goes to sit with Victor’s PI. They’re plotting something, Nick can tell. It’s really nothing for you to worry about, Vikki shrugs it off – which only makes Nick suspicious of how much she knows.
Nothing for you to worry about, Nick repeats. Do you know why Adam’s meeting with Dad’s investigator? Not really – Vikki doesn’t want to know any of the details. but does have some idea what’s going on. Trust me – you don’t want to get involved. Dad and Adam are planning some move against ChanceCom. Nick finds it odd that Vikki’s taking Adams’s side over Billy’s. Vikki appreciates Adam putting a stop to Billy’s wedding crasher but doesn’t trust him entirely. She also understands that it must be hard for Nick to be drifting away from Dad while he gets closer to Adam. Glad they talked, Vikki leaves. On cue, Adam’s meeting wraps up and he moseys over to the bar. Why are you cozying up to Dad’s PI? Vikki didn’t tell you? Adam’s surprised. It’s just business.
Billy’s not trying to sic Gaines on the Nemans alike a rabid dog. They’re coming after us. You don’t need to prove anything, Lily implores. Billy already tried taking the high road – and destroyed the best weapon we had against Adam and Victor. Not wanting to go to war with them, Lily sees nothing wrong with asking Vikki to help end this senseless feud. Billy will NOT run to his ex to ask her to protect his company.
What kind of Newman Media business requires a PI? Nick asks. Adam’s not ‘going rogue’. Oh, and Dad tells me you’re feeling like an outcast in the family. Adam can relate after spending most of his life as an outcast. Look at you now – as in as anyone can get, Nick sneers. Dad loves to play musical chairs with his kids. You’re in – you’re out. He has to wonder how far someone will go to get a seat at the table. If I find out your intentions are malicious, you really are a monster, he warns Adam. Now is not the time to take shots at each other, not with all the family’s going through. What does that mean? Nick’s left puzzled.
At TGP, Phyllis types a text to Nick (are you OK?) then deletes it.
Still at Society’s bar, Nick’s tempted to contact Phyllis, but doesn’t.
You’d rather go to war with the Newmans than ask Vikki for help, Lily’s arms are folded – Vikki’s not an unreasonable woman. Good night! she marches upstairs.
