Phyllis will say it again – she’ll give Diane a wide berth and deal with her professionally if they come in contact. She won’t let zombie trash interfere with succeeding at this job. You have nothing to worry about, she promises Summer.
Now that she can speak, Tessa wants Mariah to take the afternoon off. Unfortunately, she can’t – think about Kyle and Summer’s job offer. Tessa promises to leave some ice cream and with a hug, rejoins Faith and Sharon. Our little girl’s grown up, Tessa pretends to tear up. After Faith goes to meet Moses, Tessa admits to Sharon that she’s scared she’ll never sing again.
Vikki’s grateful that she can speak openly with Abby – even though she’s married to the cop investigating Ashland’s death. She tells Abby exactly what happened – Nick saved my life. Vikki’s story ends with Ashland disappearing and apparently crashing his car. She tears up – why is Chance investigating? What does he hope to get out of it?
Victor’s handed the tablet; what am I supposed to be looking at? Chance walks him through the newly found footage – recognize the man getting into Ashland’s car? He put out a cigarette and covered his tracks. The guys Victor’s had surveilling Vikki probably frequent the gas station. He’s sure one of them put out a cigarette (which Chance is having checked for DNA) What do you want to hear? Victor folds his arms.
Supposing Victor did what Chance suspects him of to protect Nick and Vikki – Abby had a similar incident with Stitch. If she’d accidentally killed him and I (Victor) covered it up to protect her, what would you do then?
Chance hates having to do this investigation, Abby tells Vikki (who still feels trapped by Ashland) She and Nick told Chance what happened that night. We want to put it behind us. Maybe you can help your husband understand.
Sharon understands Tessa’s concern and hearing about Kyle and Summer’s job offer, Sharon approves. She was a spokesmodel too – now called brand ambassador. She’s sure it’s not a pity job. Being the face of a high-end designer will boost your music base. You’ll be working with the man who officiated your wedding – and Mariah and Summer. I’d be an idiot to turn it down, Tessa decides.
At Jabot, Phyllis and Diane are forcing laughter when Mariah comes along to ask what’s going on. It’s my Mom’s first day, Summer announces (much to Mariah’s surprise)
Mariah congratulates Phyllis on the new job. We’re expecting great things, Kyle adds. She better for what we’re paying her, Summer jokes. Diane also hopes this position brings everything she hopes for. One big happy family, Mariah breaks the awkward silence by asking Diane to come with her. See? Everything’s falling into place. It’s gonna be great, Phyllis assures Summer and Kyle.
With a hug, Tessa goes up to the apartment. Nick and Nikki come in to order lattes. How much does Sharon know? Nikki wonders. Everything. Nick trusts Sharon and needed to talk to someone; being responsible for a man’s death is a lot to carry around.
Across from the chessboard, Chance comes with evidence and facts and you throw a hypothetical at me. He won’t answer. Why am I pursuing this ? Because he took an oath. Chance points his finger – you need to trust in the legal system and me. Victor leans forward most menacingly – and you need to develop a greater sense for family and be there when they need you, not when it’s convenient for you. Next time, Chance old boy, don’t point your finger at your father-in-law. Give my love to my daughter. With a terse ‘Goodbye’, Chance stomps out.
You did nothing wrong, it was self-defense, Nikki comforts Nick. But Dad made us accessories to his crime, and for what? Nick asks. Both their phones go off. Victor wants to meet them all at the ranch.
In Kyle’s office, Phyllis signs the contract that officially makes her a Marchetti employee. Kyle appreciates the effort she’s making with his Mom. Phyllis agrees that they can make this work – it’s clear in her mind what she wants to accomplish here. After Kyle and Summer step out, Phyllis sends an update to Nikki and Ashley – time to get this party started.
In the park, Chance looks conflicted.
Nikki and Nick rush into the living room, followed closely by Vikki. Victor reports that Chance has made a discovery (one that his security team will pay dearly for) Nick’s only concern is how close Chance is to proving what really happened.
