At home, Vikki informs her Mother that the point of today’s video conference is to let the department heads know that NE will be bigger and more powerful than ever with her ambitious acquisition plans. Nikki worries that it’s too much too soon.
Nick’s dropped by Sally’s office to update her that the investigation has been closed. Ashland’s death was a terrible accident.
Chance is at the ranch – he believes Vikki’s been through enough and Nick didn’t mean to kill Ashland. Justice has been served. However, if Victor operates outside of the law again, Chance will be there to make sure he’s held accountable.
On the rooftop, Chloe’s convinced that Chelsea saw Rey as more than a friend and now has eyes for Billy. Maybe you can’t be just friends with a man, but I can! Chelsea claims with gusto.
In the park, Adam’s surprised that Kevin’s so calm – he’d be freaking out at the thought of being blamed for a negligent investigation. You’re dumb and trusting with a sketchy past – the perfect fall guy. Kevin’s not dumb enough to be conned into helping Adam get revenge against Victor.
Victor insists that Ashland’s the one who ‘flouted’ the law – that bastard got what he deserved. Chance implores Victor to consider the grandkids who look up to him. I won’t cover for you again. Chance is promptly dismissed – have a nice day. I have things to do (like glare at your back as you leave)
Nick appreciates Sally’s discretion and understanding during this ordeal – someone with fewer scruples could have exploited it. Sally figures she owes Nick a warning. About what? Adam.
Still in the park, Adam tells Kevin that he’ll need a good lawyer. Your brother works for Victor/conflict of interest. Kevin won’t budge – there was no cover-up; Chance went by the book. Let it go. Adam’s left to make a call – it’s me. I need a job done.
Since he came to question her, Sally assumes that Adam’s probably gone to Abby, Chance and others. She’s furious that he tried to manipulate her and make her complicit in whatever he has planned for Victor. Thank God Chloe’s there to constantly remind her that Adam’s no good.
