At Top of the Tower, Kevin tells Mariah about his bromance with Billy – their connection started in a hospital (he covered for Billy when he donated bone marrow to Delia) It ended in a hospital. I went from Billy’s bedside to Victor’s office. He worries Victor will screw him over. My body’s not even cold and you’ve shaken hands with the devil, Billy’s full of insults – you’re officially a tool.

Noah knows Victor hated Billy – but he was my Uncle. Victor couldn’t stand Vikki being with Billy Boy Abbott, but that doesn’t mean he wanted him dead. Didn’t you? Noah’s skeptical. That’s enough – Victor has work to do – go gather your thoughts somewhere else. After Noah slams out, Victor mumbles – you were a degenerate, a drunk, but you gave me grandchildren and now this deal – may you rest in peace.

Sure Kevin should have waited and gone to Jack, but Natalie wouldn’t wait. We had a verbal agreement, Billy whines, and isn’t happy when Mariah tells Kevin not to torture himself – Billy may have done the same thing. No, I’d have kept my word – you should know that about me, Billy’s troubled. Why doesn’t anyone in town know me?

Vikki joins her Mom and the kids at CL’s. She almost went in Billy’s room but he’d want me to be with the kids. Nikki thinks that makes sense. The kids don’t understand, Vikki doubts Katie will have any memories of Billy; Johnny’s will fade. They’ll have your memories, Nikki says. They deserve to know their Father; his children were his joy, Vikki murmurs. There’s someone who knows me, Billy appears.

Nikki at the counter, Billy chats to the kids – he left their big sister in a car by herself blah blah blah. He wants Johnny to tell his Mom it’ll be OK when she’s sad. As Billy leaves, Vikki’s surprised when Kattie bleats ‘Da da’

Phyllis joins Jill in Billy’s room – he’s the most perfect thing I’ve ever seen. Every Mother says that. Jill wonders if Kay will meet Billy. I don’t want him to go, she weeps. He’s not suffering, Phyllis comforts. He’s my baby, Jill continues. He always felt things too much. He loved and played so hard. We’ll never see his smile again. Are you still in there?

In the lounge, Ashley and Jack talk about how Dad doted on Billy; we all did. How could we not? We never gave up. Not until now. Jack feels a fist around his heart – Billy never had a chance to set it right. When he dies, everything that could have been does with him. Phyllis and Jill come out grim-faced. He won’t be with us much longer, Jack concludes.

Chelsea drops by Victor’s office to ask where Adam is. That’s confidential. I’m his wife – why so secretive? Something’s off. Adam didn’t call – he always calls. He should be with Connor and me, not off on a confidential business trip, she tells Victor that it’s a traumatic time for all of us.

Back at TotT, Noah’s at the bar drinking again. Kevin says it won’t help – everything that sucks now will suck when you sober up. Go be with your family. Mariah’s sorry – it’s terrible – but the police will make catch whoever hit Billy and make him pay – hang onto that. Obviously, cheered up, Noah finishes his drink in one gulp.

Ashley, Phyllis, Jack and Jill tell Billy that he can go. It’s time for us all to say goodbye. We’ll all see each other again one day. Til we see you next…..
