Hilary explains that despite signing with HWG, Jabot will still be the sole sponsor of her show. She thought he’d be OK with it because of his relationship with Neil. Jack points out the problem; Newman is HWG’s biggest PR client. How long before she’s promoting their products? Hilary won’t be some Newman mouthpiece – and Vikki won’t advertise on her show. Seated at a table in the club, Cane logs onto his nanny cam to watch Lily cradling and singing Sam back to sleep then gently placing him in his bassinet (which she then quietly cries over) Something’s come up at home – sorry, he runs past the man he’s to meet with.
When Cane comes home, Bridgette takes Sam out of the room. He saw Lily on the nanny cam. I had a moment, Lily shrugs it off. Cane knows she’s been lying about working with Vikki – staying out until Sam’s asleep. It’s too much too soon, he realizes. Lily knew what she was signing up for. Cane knows that Lily’s kind and loving. Our family starts with you and me. We have to make time for us – starting with a date.
Hilary comes out of Jack’s office to report a problem – her assistant tried to return a dress she ordered online but there was no record of the sale. On cue, Ravi comes along to say he’ll look into it.
Over beers at the penthouse, Noah vents his woes to his Dad. I go from one thing to the next with no plan. Nick’s encouraging – you’ll find your passion. Noah wonders if breaking up with Tessa was a mistake. As Nick says there’s nothing without trust, Chelsea comes down to send him off for power tool lessons with the contractor. After the boys leave, Chelsea quickly packs up the money and sneaks out.
Tessa’s at the bar to get the champagne and ice bucket for Devon’s office. As she stands and waits, Noah and Victor talk about her briefly. After Noah leaves, Victor recalls offering Tessa 100K to leave town. Now you have nothing. Never cross a Newman again, he warns.
Lily and Cane are in a near-empty movie theater; snacking and holding hands as the movie begins.
Devon’s impressed that Tessa’s the first person in the office and the last one out. Hilary arrives for champagne – then Mariah. When Devon takes Hilary off to show her something, Tessa tells Mariah that they must find a way to move forward; whatever you need. Mariah drinks back her champagne and marches out.
Ravi finds Ashley having one last look at her office. Yes, she’s really leaving. They wish each other the best. Don’t let Jack rope you into anything unethical, Ashley cautions Ravi ~hug~
At the bar, Jack congratulates Victor on his new hire. Victor thanks Jack for driving Ashley away. What’s next? Lawsuit? Buster? No – a request – treat my sister with the respect she deserves.
Lily doesn’t seem to be enjoying the movie but laughs when Cane does the Ritchie Cunningham yawn stretch to put his arm around her. When she accidentally dumps her popcorn over the lady in front of them, Lily apologizes and laughs as she and Cane slip out.
At the revolving door, Mariah updates Noah how she and Tessa came to be working together. Noah has an idea – save the universe – let’s go.
