Hilary’s on the phone with Tessa (let Devon know that I’m at Top of the Tower if he wants to talk to me) Phyllis joins the ‘town pariah’ for martinis and reassures that their friendship is intact. What you did is despicable – but the on-air apology took courage. Devon will come around eventually. They clink glasses and change the subject to Chelsea. Phyllis was so close to hammering the nail in that con artists coffin. Told that she’s been working with Sharon, Hilary gives Phyllis shocking news – someone attacked Sharon.

Mariah arrives to hear that Sharon’s having a CT scan. Nick and Nikki have no answers yet and ask Mariah to be patient. How bad was it? Nikki didn’t see any blood but wasn’t able to wake Sharon up. Mariah lashes out – you guys don’t even like her. She’s my Mother, she sobs. Nikki gives her a hug and allows Mariah to vent. Sharon knows you love her, she gently consoles. The doctor reports with vague info – the scan shows no signs of trauma. Sharon could wake up in 20 minutes or 20 hours. Paul shows up to say that he suspects robbery is the motive. The register was empty, the cameras disable. Getting a call from Phyllis, Nick reports that Sharon was about to tell him something important when she was attacked. No, the police have no leads. Is Chelsea there for support? Phyllis asks. No, but Mariah and Nikki are here. Hanging up, Phyllis snarls – robbery my ass.

In GCM’s lounge, Nikki asks Paul about the ‘pitcher’ that was near Sharon’s body. It could be the weapon, Paul’s having it checked for prints and blood. When Nikki mentions the last time she saw Paul (interrogating her with Chris) he asks if life is still rainbows and roses with Victor. It’s exactly what I signed up for, Nikki smiles.

The letter to Nick placed where he’ll find it, Chelsea’s about to wheel her luggage out when Phyllis comes banging on the penthouse door. I’m not leaving! I know what you did to Sharon and you’re not getting away with it!

It’s time to step up – time to end this, Phyllis says through the door (as Chelsea looks trapped)

Mariah’s at the station to thank Paul for coming to Sharon’s aid and offer free pastries if he catches the monster who did this. She then rejoins Nick and Nikki (who assures that Sharon will make a full recovery) She’ll go back to the ranch and watch the boys so Nick can stay and wait for word on Sharon’s condition.

In the hallway, Phyllis tells the buildings’ supervisor that Chelsea suffers from vertigo – I’m worried she fell down the stairs. Maybe we should call Mr Newman, the super suggests. He’s away on business, Phyllis breaks into tears at the thought of Chelsea laying injured in there. By the time the super lets Phyllis into the penthouse, Chelsea’s snuck out the secret exit and onto the elevator.

Devon joins Hilary at Top of the Tower. Yes, he saw the show – never misses it. What did you think? Hilary prods.

You made the show about yourself, Devon clearly isn’t impressed. It’s MY show, Hilary reminds. I was telling my truth. It was self-indulgent – according to Devon and online reviews from viewers. Read them for yourself. Looking at reviews on her phone, Hilary’s disappointed – I deserve credit for putting myself out there. Devon can’t let it slide that Hilary breached her contract. No, he won’t fire her but warns her not to do it again. He, Lily, Cane aren’t interested in Hilary’s apologies. Give up trying to get me to forgive you and just do your job, Devon says – then meets Simone off the elevator with a kiss as a dismayed Hilary polishes off her drink.

Now home, Phyllis tells Billy that Chelsea is back on her radar because she added assault to her list of crimes.

In the cover of darkness, Chelsea moves her luggage from the trunk of one car to another.
